Another Diocese Leaves the Episcopal Church

Sometimes a split is good thing. It separates the true church from the apostates.

Indeed. Whilst the diocese is leaving TEC, it is not leaving the Anglican Communion, of which TEC is but a province. What we are seeing here is a separating out of the Anglican Communion into liberal and conservative provinces, which will eventually go their separate ways.

Not unlike the resorting that is happening among Baptists in America ... CBF churches leaving SBC, Pacific Southwest region leaving ABCUSA, etc. Or the resorting that happened some years back when a number of LCMS units/churches left to form a new Lutheran configuration, but then merged with others later. The tension created by doctrinaire folks on both sides of a key issue often leads Americans to reorganize themselves, whether in church or in politics.

There has always been a divide within the Anglican communion. To-day it is more pronounced because it has become more public. Formerly, Anglicans managed to keep their differences within the community.

We have the same divide happening iin Canada. It becomes more serious in Anglicanism because the buildings are owned by the Anglican Church in Canada, and the people who have been paying the bills have no legal claim on the buildings.

The bishops are divided on the gay marriage thing. This is not on the question of homosexuality, but on the actual marriage itself. This has become a major issue, however, and may very well divide the Anglican communion.
