A Pope could very well be the False Prophet, but not Antichrist!

Good news is that regardless our eschatology, whenever Jesus returns, all saved go up!

    Huh?

    your own Confession says:

"the Pope of Rome...is that Antichrist...whom the Lord shall destroy with the brightness of his coming""

Because no pope could be popular enough to be accepted by the millions of Protestant Christians, the Jews, Islam, Bhuddism, etc. to accept him as ruler. Besides, in Rev. 17, we see the RCC trying to "ride"(control) the beast & his empire, but he turns upon it, something a pope wouldn't do!

I disagree with that part of the Confession, as scriptures are still supreme authority!

Antichrist will have no formal; religion, as he will set Himself up as the God to be worshipped!

What scriptures, chapter and verse, convinced you to adopt your non Confessional stance ("A Pope could very well be the False Prophet, but not Antichrist!") on this?

And exactly what scripture convinced you to shift your stance from
    to this?

Jesus saying that the Jews would refuse Him, but they will support another who comes in His own name!
