Another person who attended the Sword Scripture Text Conference gave the following report concerning it:

"Even though I use the KJV exclusively and wish others would as well, the KJV Sword of the Lord conference this week was too extreme for my tastes. I attended all of it except the first night. Last night (Thursday, Jan. 17) was the worst. Norris Belcher was the most extreme of the bunch last night, making a mockery of Greek and Hebrew. The title of his message was, "Shut up, you don't speak Greek!" He had everyone raise their hand that had taken Greek. He then asked if any of them could say, "I'm going to McDonald's to buy a hamburger." He then made fun of them for not being able to say it in Greek (of course he didn't tell you that the words "McDonalds" and "hamburger" never existed in Koine Greek). He tried to mock preachers that "go to the Greek," because "the KJV has a built-in dictionary." The example he gave of a built-in dictionary made no sense. He said that Strong's dictionary is wrong in about 80% of what it says. He didn't say outright that it was wrong to teach Greek and Hebrew in Bible colleges, but he tried to leave people with the impression that it was a waste of time and counter-productive.

Towards the beginning of the conference there was talk about being kind, not insulting and showing the truth in love, but as the conference continued the atmosphere degenerated. The NIV was called "Non-Inspired-Version" and "the HIV," etc.

One of the tracts being distributed for free at one of the booths had the following title: "10 Steps to total apostasy if you do not use the KJV."

    Sigh ...

Well, thanks for the report anyways.

I think the anti-education pseudo-'fundamental' is taking root
    too many places

This week I've been able to read the reason I
got kicked off a 'ingorance' (not knowing) place.
I got kicked off 4 months ago and haven't
been able to read their message.
Here was why I got kicked off:

'Your' means 'stuff what belongs to you'
'You're' is short for 'you are'.
He was trying to say "you are ungodly"'.
Thier anti-educational 'ignorance' is showing :(

TeeHee, what I did was in a conversation about
the decline of proprity among those who make pages
on MySpace. I used as an example of a person
in the discussion, her picture on a Christian 'MySpace'-like
place. Cleavage is nice - in the right place.
So they didn't understand what I was doing and
didn't ask (probably, in their anti-education way, they
didn't know - and were falsely unaware).
I not repenting (I cannot repent of their ignorance --
I'm not even close to responsible for their anything)
    then looked bad to them.

Thanks for that revealing report Logos . It just demonstrates the level of mentality and spirituality of the movement . They are as unedifying as they come . Most non-KJV'ers would never dream of slamming the KJV as the KJV'ers so effortlessly demean the MV's . They need to actually read and apply the truths of the KJV that they profess to adore .

Logos, where are you getting this information from? You say another person with no sources for anyone to follow.

Please post the link to this source as I have searched the Internet and cannot find it anywhere.

Are you sure this is not just a feeble attempt to slander those who hosted the SOTL conference? If not, it sure looks like it when sources are not produced.

Credible reports from more than one source will be tolerated. I do have some difficulty with second hand reports. Perhaps Pastor Bob could respond as he was present at the event.

I am in Georgia leaving for Arkansas in a few minutes. I am stopping in Mississippi for a college basketball game. I will get my notes and give you what I have from that message. I will say that I spoke directly to Dr. Belcher Friday morning about that message. It wasn't quite as vicious as reported. The CD and/or DVD will be available soon.

    Shouldn't be vicious at all.
I have on my desk right now, John R. Rice's book "Our God Breathed Book- The Bible," I don't think he would have been vicious. How far the Sword has moved from John R. Rice. He loved the KJV as I do and preached from it but he was not KJO.

What may seem vicious to some may not be vicious to others.

For instance, I could say in a crowd of people at a tent meeting, "God abhors homosexuality, and such who practice that lifestyle are headed to hell unless they turn from that lifestyle and turn to God." And that is truth and should be accepted as truth without a doubt.

But if one person who is in such a lifestyle who loves his sin too much to turn from it hears those words, that one will take it as a vicious attack on his or her person.

Many times when one says something was vicious, it truly was not vicious in the least.

The person who attended the Sword Scripture Text Conference had posted the above report at the Bible Version Discussion Board. The person had also emailed me a report of his observations of the Conference.

That does not help in the least.

Just saying that person or another person is not credible at all.

Why is it I cannot find one single sentence of what you state he posted on the internet? Surely it should be there somewhere?

Logos, I too would like to read more. Could you post that site? I've been searching and can't find it either.

I went to that site and found the post. I also notice that the OP never answered another poster to enlighten him to the supposed 10 steps in the tract he supposedly saw.

I could just as easily say I was there and state they gave elephant rides to the first 45 missionary pastors who agreed to donate $1,000.00 to Benny Hinn's Save the SD Zoo Tigers fund , but that would not mean it was true.

The OP posted nothing but accusations with no proof to back his attack on SOTL speakers.

    Google "Bible Version Discussion Board."

Would it not be fair to give other attendees the same credence that we give our own Pastor Bob?

He has promised to fill us in on the message. I think we should wait for his report.

I have just been looking for more about the conference and not finding much. I'm certainly happy to wait for Bob and really appreciate his reporting what he learned back to us!

I do like to read from multiple sources and pov though. I appreciate the search helps. I've been multitasking to the max ;)

I just responded in question to Pastor_Bob if there were any others reporting negatively to the conference.

As expected, the type given in this thread is typical of those lying in wait to pounce on anything that "moves".:tear:

There seems to be some discrepancy here. Pastor Bob said that there was no mention of Ruckman, yet the OP of the other board logos got his OP from states that Ruckman was mentioned.

I will have to believe Pastor Bob on this one.

We have to remember that we all have "bias" and see things according to our bias. Though as balanced as any human could be Pastor Bob is still going to see the meeting from his angle, as is this other poster on the other forum.

I trust Pastor Bob and admire his greatly, but he will, as any of us would, see the conference from his perspective and report accordingly.

From the tenor of the two posters I have read so far I trust Pastor Bob, for the reasoned and rationale way he reported.

I am looking forward to his view on the issues addressed by the poster over at BVDB.
