Actually, we are looking into that right now. Our pastor is also looking into advertising at his alma mater for a Spanish speaking man to plant a Hispanic SBC church in our church's community that we would sponsor. i may rant about stuff, but God keeps me in line about it. ;)

If I were to move to Germany I would learn German. If I were to move to Russia I would learn Russian. If I were to move to France... well, that ain't happening. The difference is that I would learn and use the language of the land so as to be able to communicate. The US government has bent over backwards for everyone else in the world for so long that people who come here demand to have things in their own language instead of working on learning English.

Same here, on a mission trip to Colima, Mexico. We held a VBS and a lay revival and it was awesome. And, yes, we all learned as much Spanish as we could before we went. No one had to hold our hands or interpret everything for us... although we used, "Habla lentamente" quite a bit.

I still see their souls and their need for Christ. I am doing what I can to try to reach them. Their refusal to learn or speak English makes that a lot harder than it has to be, but the devil will use whatever he can to hold on to as many as he can.

I never before thought of you as sanctimonious, but your post is just chock full of it.

And I don'r know quite what to think of this:

I guess it my turn to say your post is so full of false sanctimony that it is sickening to me.

    How's that?

When I move to Mexico I will learn Spanish not expect them to change everything to English for me because I do not want to learn Spanish for fear it might go against my home culture.

    How Wrong You "R"

    Tim,

Sorry you missed the point of my post. I don't want everyone to be like me...I just want people who come and make America their home to assimilate, and expect US to assimilate.

My family background is German, and thankfully they all assimilated. German was spoken by all my elders, however, my parents, and theirs did not allow us to use German as our spoken language. My father once told me that we are now in America, and it is the right thing to speak English.

I can speak German, but, through assimilation [out of LOVE for America] my ability to speak German has diminished to a trickle.

So sorry if I stepped on your toe(s)...it was not intentional!:wavey:

Tis Not a Nazi, Tis Just My Opinion!

I'm German by heritage, C4K, but, never been, and never will be a Nazi.

I am however, a Christian, and I apologize to you if in any way my pride of being an American offended you. Still, IMHO, if you refuse to assimilate to your NEW country, you are the PROBLEM...

When we become a Christian, we give our heart and soul to Jesus, and at the same time we are expected [per the Word, and the infilling of the Holy Spirit] to become more like Jesus, and less like our old self. I believe this would be called a form of Spiritual Assimilation. Does that make Jesus, or the Christian life comparable to the Nazi's??? I think not...it is out of love and gratitude that the person who's heart is transformed by Grace is bound to assimilate through the process of Sanctification.

I've been taught the three "ify's" We are Justified; than Sanctified, and finally Glorified. All of that is the result of eventual, yet, continual assimilation to the ways [life on earth] of a Holy God.

Those who profess to be saved, but, continue to exhibit the ways of their old sinful life, are nothing more than hypocrites, and out of step with the Word.

The point is, where do you get this 'rule.'

I have assimilated quite well. Most folks think of me as 'Irish' but that does not mean that I have joined the 'Irish' in everything. I have not joined the infamous Irish drink culture, for example. We still observe Thanksgiving and our Irish friends love it. They all come in the evening for an 'open house' and look forward to it evey year. 'Join us in everything' leaves no room for any culture. America is rich because of her divergence of culture and even language. Who decides what is 'American' since America is made up of a beautiful blend of cultures? Is is that unique divergent Americanism that has made America all that she is today.

Surely you are not trying to equate living in America to becoming a believer? I will give no country the allegiance I give my true King.

New York City was the first location in the entire world to pass an open housing law. NYC still has a self-segregated area for every possible human language and nationality because that's the way people want it. There is no logical or reason or data to assume that these people are less pro-American than those in Iowa.

In Seattle, a "Chinese" person could be born, live 60 years, and die without going more than a few blocks outside of Chinatown and never learn English. In the same way, a "Swede" could live his entire life in Ballard (aka Snoose Junction).

I worked in Chinatown for 15 years. Some of the old timers could only speak English when they wanted to talk to me but not when I wanted to talk to them. <G> All things considered, would rather work in Chinatown than in the whitest areas of Seattle.

Who is more patriotic? The person who is happy to live in the US the way it is or the person who think their state should pull out of the union?
