James Bradley outdid "Flags of My Father" with this WWII story. Anyone read it yet?

I've been eyeing it in the bookstore. I literally have about 10 other books to read before I buy any more, so that one will have to wait for a few months -- unless you get me so interested I bump it to the front of the line. :D

Imagine story of downed US Naval pilots, finding refuge on a small island . . only to find it occupied by brutal Japanese. Info was so awful that it was SEALED for 55 years (as per military guidelines) and only now did the families find the truth about the "presumed dead" sons and husbands.

Story of 8 "flyboys" over a couple years and their eventual fate. And a 9th who was shot down and, just before the Japs sent out boats to "rescue" him, a submarine surfaces and picks him up.

    George Bush. Kid you not.

Gripping, horrendous and remarkable intervention of God in a world at war.

    Interested now? [IMG]

I finally got started on it Monday night. Very interesting stuff.

I can't devote an enormous amount of time to it, but the brief historical overview of Japan was very good. It corroberates other material I've read covering the Japanese worldview from about 1600-1941.

I'll post a brief review when I finish later this month.
