Who told you to change from the God-speaking to the God-unspeaking?

    Askjo,

Surely God would not use "him" in place of Christ. Why would God use "him" instead of "Christ"? This must mean the TR is corrupt and was compiled by Gnostics.

I looked at that link and nothing there shows the MVs to be Gnostic. I don't think the site knows what Gnostic is.

For one thing, look at one of the main verses in the Bible to refute the early Gnostic heresy that said Jesus did not come in a real human body, 1 John 4.2:

    NASB
    2By this you know the Spirit of God: every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God;

    NIV
This is how you can recognize the Spirit of God: Every spirit that acknowledges that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God,

    ESV
By this you know the Spirit of God: every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God,

Now, this was the acid test on the early Gnostics, yet here we have 3 MVs who give it! Why would they say this if they were Gnostic? The Gnostics denied that Jesus came in the flesh.

Refuting this is like taking candy from a baby.

You should see the agnostic quote from Riplinger, "Her quotes are so extremely brief, I don't understand how Riplinger can dare claim that they are from the sources she cites. For example, she implies that "the Blessed One" of Mark 14:61, NIV, actually refers to some exiled Hindu guru named Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh. Even if a demonic hand were at work in the NIV translation, plenty of other evil men have been called "the Blessed One" at some point."

Just more venom and hate there, Askjo. Can you find any sites that actually think and use facts instead of misguided passion and lies?

    Hi Marcia,

It is true that the KJVOs do not know what Gnosticism is. They try to sound like they understand it, then apply their misguided knowledge to MVs. What it boils down to is that KJVO's use the word "Gnostic" as a scapegoat.

I'm glad you explained why John wrote 1Jn: to combat Gnosticism. Modern versions have 1Jn in them, and it refutes Gnosticism. Therefore, if the MVs are Gnostic yet contain 1Jn, then the Gnostic is forced to 1). Rip 1Jn from the canon 2). Admit that Gnosticism is wrong.

14 And he was casting out a devil, and it was dumb. And it came to pass, when the devil was gone out, the dumb spake; and the people wondered. 15 But some of them said, He casteth out devils through Beelzebub the chief of the devils. 16 And others, tempting him, sought of him a sign from heaven. 17 But he, knowing their thoughts, said unto them, Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and a house divided against a house falleth. 18 If Satan also be divided against himself, how shall his kingdom stand? because ye say that I cast out devils through Beelzebub. 19 And if I by Beelzebub cast out devils, by whom do your sons cast them out? therefore shall they be your judges.
    Luke 11:14-19 (KJV)

This still doesn't explain what you believe GNOSTICISMto be.

Please help each of us better understand your case so we can understand you. Thanks in advance.

And yes, I'm looking for an explicit statement (not cut and paste) definition of gnosticism from you.

KJVO definition of Gnosticism = anything that is in a MV that does not agree word for word with the KJV.

Askjo has been aked repeatedly to give us evidence modern translations are gnostic. So far, we have not seen one shred of evidence to support this claim. As a matter of fact, all evidence is against Askjo's false claim.

Mexdeaf, I didn't know you have a copy of the Askjo Dictionary of Untruth. Where can I get a copy?

Actually I used to believe the same stuff before I learned not to have a "cut and paste" Christianity but to investigate the claims of others for myself.

Hey! "Cut and Paste Christianity"- I think I'm going to use that for a sermon on Acts 17 sometime.

Askjo, are you planning on answering the questions, or just posting links?

You have yet to address this.

Isn't that kind of like asking one without knowledge (agnostic) to explain knowledge (gnosis)?

Yes, I liked that. I think it was James White or someone in his chat channel that sent it to me.
At any rate, he sent it off to Dan Wallace who had apparently not heard it before but Wallace got a chuckle out of it.

I read Riplinger's book, at the urging of someone, when I was a new believer. Well, as it turned out, I didn't have to read for long to see the whopping mistakes in her book! Good heavens!

As for the above, it strains the mind to think anyone could even come up with this, let alone believe it.

Isn't it amazing how Christians will believe most anything said by someone but in another situation would never believe such ridiculous things? If someone at the local tire shop or grocery store said the same thing they would never believe such a stupid thing.
