Wondering if it's authentic. Probably not...but if it is, very cool find! I wonder how this plays into the reconstruction of the temple one day...

You know if it's the real deal wouldn't they be in danger of touching it? :type:

That thought crossed my mind. They'll have to do DNA tests to make sure the right lineage can carry it...

I think your on to something.....if they can carry it without the proper instructions wouldn't that confirm if it was not real?

if it's ever been touched it confirms it's not the biblical ark.

Consider that the Bible speaks about the ark having been stolen. It is doubtful that it was carried away by the Levites.... into the enemy's camp. For a while, even David got away with transporting it back on a cart driven by animals instead of being carried on staves by men.

When the glory of the LORD left the temple, I have my doubts concerning that the ark, which was built by man's devices with natural resource from the earth, was anything more than symbolic of things to come. In side it was the law and object-witnesses of God's provisions and miracles and was a temporal reminder of God's covanant with His chosen people and their covanant with him and the promise of his provision and protection.

If I understand correctly in reading Revelations, there is a temple in Heaven and there is the Ark and the Mercy Seat: Who made these and of what are they made..... only God knows...... but I suspect it was God. I don't know the depth of meaning that such furnishings have....perhaps a Bible scholar might know?

Nevertheless, the uncovering or unveiling of the Ark, which was thought for a long time to have been lost, would be a remarkable discovery, and a proper prelude to the building of the temple and its refubishing in Jerusalem.

    This is an interesting development.

Call me a cynic, call me skeptical, or just call me a fuddy-duddy stick-in-the-mud ......

    I don't believe it.

Even though the ark had a thin vineer of gold around it, wouldn't that veneer have flaked off and the acacia wood partially rotted by now?

The article cited that the 10 commandments inside would have to be closely checked for ..... I can't remember, but checked for something .....

.... but wouldn't those stone tablets have already been either stolen, misplaced, and most importantly either crumbled to dust or at the very least the inscriptions weathered away?

I'm dubious about the whole thing ..... especially when it comes from WND.

Haven't read anything on it this morning. If it were legit, it would be all over the net by now.

Here's a site about what really happened today.

Apparently they are not going to reveal it, but the guy said he saw it... that's good enough proof for me.
