Churches should set the standard
Long, long time ago I read about a denomination that passed a rule that no denomination employee should be paid more than 3 times (?) the pay of the least paid employee. Never heard anything about it, again.
My denomination leaders (Christian Reformed Church) tries to hide from the members what they pay themselves but they give enough info to calculate their average pay, which is over $100K as I recall.
The CRC publishes minimum acceptable compensation for pastors which is slightly higher (?) than the national median family income. My local congregation pays about the median for the area.
In your denomination or local church, the pastor/president is paid about how many times the janitor's salary? I would support a rule for a 5 times pay spread. If the Janitor gets 10 bucks an hour then the top guy can't get more than a 50 dollar equivalent.
