Just of note: to be a Christian is to be Christlike, so since Jesus Christ is God, and since He Himself is Redeeming His own Bride/ Israel, for committing adultery, why can't we? WE CAN!! It is accomplished ALL BY GRACE!!!

Actually, Ralph, I have written on every single passage of Scripture that deals with marriage. I have written on the passages that you won't deal with very much because they contradict you.

A couple of problems: First, Jesus actually said "except for adultery." So the exception clause is "what Jesus actually said." Second, his "final statement dealing with teh subject" is in Matthews 19. I shouldn't have to poitn out to you that Matthew is a synoptic gospel that presents the life of Jesus largely in chronological order. His final statement was Matthew 19 where he gave the exception clause. But even further still is Christ's statement in 1 Cor 7 where there is an allowance for divorce. So, quite clearly, I have dealt with what Jesus actually said.

"except for the cause of fornication" ... that little pesky phrase of Jesus.

I didn't stop short of that phrase, and if you do not include the exception clause then you do not agree with Jesus. I may be wrong, but certainly not based on your line of argumentation which ignores much of what God has taught about marriage.

Ok, Larry, what did Jesus end the passage with then?

    Hint: A-D-U-L-T-E-R-Y

The exception is ONLY due to the erroneous teachings of the school of Shammai, you should KNOW that, besides, it is perfectly clear what Jesus was saying, to some of us at least

So? Are you trying to say Jesus also is a Pharisee?

Doesn't "peskie" me, I know what he said, and I also know what he meant, what you cannot get around is that man cannot put asunder what God had made one flesh, uh, PERIOD.

Lesson in English, that phrase that falls between two separate phrases by the comma, can be omitted to ascertain the clear meaning of the phrase, ESPECIALLY when the omitted phrase is CONTRADICTORY to the phrases before and after.

English 101: the comma can be used as the word "but", as in opposed to.

    Ralph,

Jesus said "except for adultery." Yes it can be omitted to be sure, but not if you want to be true to Jesus' words. This is very simple and you are ignoring what Jesus said to maintain your position. It is quite clear that you don't like what Jesus said. It is not clear why. It is absolutely ludicrous to say that those are the words of the Pharisees. Their question is found earlier. And why would there be a few words from the Pharisees in the middle of Jesus sentence? That doesn't even make sense. These are very clearly the words of Christ. AT least you could do what some do and say they are the words of Matthew. That would have limited sensibility, but it is certainly more sensible than the words of Christ.

Lesson in Scripture: Scripture was written in Greek, not English, and the commas were not there. Man has inserted those.

Lesson in English: You do not have to omit the material between teh commas.

Lesson in Scripture: You should not omit the material between anything since all Scripture is God-breathed, not just the part that we want to use.

You can omit the words between teh commas if you like, but Jesus didn't, and you shouldn't either. You are not that important. The prhase is not contradictory, it is explanatory. The fact that you think it is contradictory shows that you are not listening to Scriputre, you are telling it what it can say. It is bad theology to ignore the words of Jesus and act like you know more than he does.

Uh, no, the finality of the subject is still the same, Larry, with or without the so-called "exception", and there is no exception to the Law of God, only reprecussions: breaking the Law/ sin, then allowing the resulting sin to over-ride the Law? Heresy!

I never act like I know more than Jesus and I find that a little lower of a slimey-slug of you to try that garbage.

Jesus plainly showed the mistake of the Pharisees, and the result being adultery, either way, Jesus was right, and you are wrong.

Unfortunately, you don't take Jesus at his word. Your failure to know the whole counsel of God has led you to an admirable but unsubstantiated position based only on your own opinion and failing to take Jesus' words into account. Your position has been repeatedly demonstrated to be faulty. You are not listening to the word of God.

Jesus was rigth, as you say. But I have only quoted him. You are the one who is wrong and the evidence is found in the mouth of JEsus himself.

Uh, no. I take Jesus at His entire Word, you only take Him, at what is so obvious that he was showing the misconception of the Pharisees, in bits and pieces and award Him your congratulations at (surmisingly),allowing sin to over-ride His Command to BECOME ONE FLESH.

The "evidence' is found in the ENTIRETY concerning Holy Matrimony, of the Word of God.

Also, in concern of the usage of the comma, the phrase incased is NOT always in agreement with the ENTIRE conjuncture of the subject, just as divorce for any reason is against that which is HOLY, including the supposed allowance of the sin of adultery to constitute a "permissible" when no "permissible" is EVER found according to the Law, specifically found in Deuteronomy.

You, along with MANY others, have "fallen from grace" when you interject sin as having some dominion over the Institutions deemed forth and ruled by Scripture. :D

I must align myself with Paul, "I would not have you to be ignorant, my brethren...", but yall are taking one phrase, attributing it as being a Command of the Lord,
( actually it is ONLY the misconceived notion of the school of Shammai) when it is in direct contradiction of the Law of God. And YOU? call me ignorant? [IMG]

Yes, adherers of false doctrine that you espouse are nonetheless bible believers, despite their doctrinal error.

    Matthew 5:32
But I say unto you, That whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery: and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery.

Wow. That's really hard to understand. This is even below a child's understanding level.

Final warning to Ralph - you question the salvation or love of God by someone who holds a different view that you, and you will be suspended. I'm tired of this filth.
