Billboard Claiming Martin Luther King Was Republican Angers Black Activists in Houston

A jumbo-sized road sign claiming that civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr. was a Republican has stirred a religious and political fight in Houston, where a church leader is trying to draw black voters into the GOP.

I always wondered why two democrat presidents and a democrat A.G. would put him under illegal surveillance.

JFK was practicing the patriot act in the '60s.

Slightly O/T, put the libbies also hate it when I remind them Jeneatte Rankin was also a republican.

On what side do you think MLK would come down concerning abortion ?

Of course Martin Luther King was a Republican. At the time the Democratic Party was the party of the South and it supported the segregation that King opposed.

The Bible does not command pastors or other church leaders to "draw black voters into the GOP". We are to proclaim the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. Not the GOP.

Considering that the democrat party is the party of abortion and gay marriage perhaps this pastor is simply trying to help his brothers to improve their walk with the Lord.

Political parties are not the answer to any moral problem (ie...SIN). Nor will joining the GOP improve anyone's walk with the Lord. People need the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ. They need to repent of their sin and turn to Christ in faith as their Lord. He will change their eternal destinies and their lives and give them a holy hatred for sin. The Republican Party cannot do that.
