Today many are on Facebook - and when it comes to Birthdays, we often allow FB to send the birthday greeting. Now for those are only FB frieds - that might be okay - but for family, close friends, ect - I think it is insufficient.

From those I know - I want to recieve a birthday card in the mail!

Why do some think that a birthday card is out of date
    OR
is it I am too old fashion???

    So what say you?

    I think it's a generational thing.

I do not care what Hallmark says.

Nothing says "I love you" like a brand new $50 bill that has been sanitized before sealing in an envelope (taped, not licked). :Biggrin

A thing called life got in the way unfortunately. But a small kind word can go a long way there. Know that feeling.

You're not too old fashioned, Salty. If family and close aquaintances know that you appreciate a birthday card greeting, then they shouldn't mind sending one. It's cheaper than a gift. I go to "Dollar Tree" for greeting cards, and my wife tells me how much she likes the cards that I get her, because it seems to her that I put a lot of thought into the cards that I give her.

I once read an interesting story in either the "Ann Landers" or "Dear Abby"column. A young woman complained to the columnist about her thoughtless mom. She said that she reminded her mom that her birthday had passed and she never received a card from her. Without even looking up at her the mom said, "I'm sorry, Dear. I tell you what, in my desk drawer I have a box of nice cards. Take one that you like, read it, then put it back in the box."
