Bishop Gene Robinson Divorces Partner

Divorce is a terrible thing and one which destroys people and will, ultimately, be part of the destruction of western civilization.

Gene Robinson, the first same sex bishop in the Episcopal church who is openly homosexual, has announced the divorce from his partner of 25 years. Bishop Robinson will continue to serve in his role with the Episcopal Church of America.

I am not attempting to triumph in another's destruction. One of the genuine issues that should be kept in mind when same sex marriage proponents remind us that heterosexual couples have a terrible track record on divorce is that for their position almost all major same sex couples who have gained prominence in the US have divorced or are planning to do so.

It is unsettling how fast they are going from altar to courtroom.

So, not that we should recognize Bishop Robinson's marriage, but it is an important marker in our society. Marriage is to be a holy estate, honoring to God, and an image of the promise of Jesus Christ. Defiling it is Satan's great hope.
