Black Caucus Foundation to probe its scholarships

WASHINGTON – The Congressional Black Caucus Foundation will investigate its following the admission by a House member that she wrongly steered scholarships to her relatives and the children of a staff member, the longtime attorney for the tax-exempt group said Tuesday.
"I never dreamed such a thing would have occurred," said Amy Goldson, who represents the influential foundation. While it has ties to members of the Congressional Black Caucus, it is run separately.
Goldson said in an interview that the foundation will review past awards and scholarship guidelines to ensure there's not a repeat of the errors by Rep. Eddie Bernice Johnson, D-Texas.
The Dallas Morning News first reported that 23 scholarships Johnson handed out since 2005 violated eligibility rules.

Rep. Johnson has been known to be a mess in the past or should I say she likes to place blame. Glad they are checking into her actions.

She is one of many crooked Dallas politicians. Dallas ranks up there with Chicago and New Orleans for the corruption of it's politicians.

As for the black caucus, are they really so naive they can't believe black politicians are corrupt? Just look at Dallas and New Orleans and they would have their answer, if they rally want to know at all.

1. Has this "Foundation" has ever given a scholarship to a white student? Some how I doubt it. 2. Imagine there being a white caucus in congress and their foundation only gave scholarships to white kids.

1. Is not considered racism.
2. Is considered to be blatant racism.

In fact, just my pointing this out will get me called a racist. Someone help me understand why it is somehow ok to have a black caucus that openly refuses white membership, or the 100 Black Men of a particular city, etc., but let there be a white caucus or the 100 White Men, etc., and it's racism?

From reading the article, I would say not likely.

"Goldson said the foundation was formed in 1976 when there were few African-American members of Congress and congressional staff members. There was an occasional secretary and others had jobs such as elevator operators."

A white caucus I believe would be put in the racism camp. However the more enlightened folks than I say an Italian, Irish, Danish caucus wouldn't be or shouldn't be put in the camp with racism. I asked once if an European caucus would be accepted and I didn't get an answer.
