On 16 Dec 1773, the colonists participated in the Boston Tea Party.

Would you consider this action as sinful?

Based on what I know, the Colonies were a British arrangement and under the crown. So as a Christian I would not have taken part in the revolution in view of Romans 13. But, when the war was over, and the new government established, I would submit to the new government according to Romans 13.

The OLD me would have advocated burning the ships to the water line to really send them a message.
The NEW me would not have participated.

Yes, I can see no Biblical justification for acts of violence not part of a 'just war'. It was probably sinful.
(I will note, however, that they attempted to make restitution for the Tea destroyed, but Lord North refused to accept it.)

IMO it was not sinful but a waste of good tea no doubt.
