Boston's Tremont Temple Baptist Mourns Loss of Pastors

Denton Lotz died April 23 at age 80. As longtime General Secretary of the Baptist World Alliance, he had to deal with SBC leaders fussing and eventually seceding from the group over its admittance of the CBF in the 2000s.

Born in 1939, Lotz grew up at Northport Baptist Church on Long Island where his father was pastor (the church is now the nondenominational 'Island Christian Church'). His brother Daniel married Billy Graham's daughter Anne.

After ably guiding the Baptist World Alliance past the SBC kerfluffle, Lotz 'retired' to Boston's Tremont Temple Baptist Church, where he ministered alongside Pastor Effie Sidiropoulou until 2017. She also passed away several months ago:
