An elderly New York bus monitor who was berated and bullied by a group of middle school students has received more than $132,000 in online donations.

Karen Huff Klein, 68, is seen in a 10-minute viral video attempting to ignore the verbal attacks by students from Athena Middle School in Greece, N.Y. Children on the bus hurl repeated insults and threats at the grandmother, calling her fat and at one point suggesting that her children commit suicide.

But donations have since poured in for the grandmother in hopes that she’ll take a “vacation of a lifetime,” according to fundraising site indiegogo.com. As of early Thursday, a total of $132,306 had been received for Klein.

If I had to work after retirement, one thing I would NOT do is work around rude, mouthy teenagers who have absolutely NO respect for anyone--including themselves.

Last I heard, the number was now over $500 g. Impressive. I'd go through that for $500 g.

But beside that, we have removed from our society every way to discipline our kids, so I don't know that we should expect better behavior. I'm a fan of corporal punishment in cases like this.
