Bush Taps Harriet Miers for High Court By DEB RIECHMANN, Associated Press Writer

WASHINGTON - President Bush on Monday nominated White House counsel Harriet Miers to replace retiring Justice Sandra Day O'Connor on the Supreme Court, reaching into his loyal inner circle for another pick that could reshape the nation's judiciary for years to come.

"She has devoted her life to the rule of law and the cause of justice," Bush said as his first Supreme Court pick, Chief Justice John Roberts, took the bench for the first time just a few blocks from the White House. "She will be an outstanding addition to the Supreme Court of the United States."

Looks like another great pick as Roberts was, someone who believes that the legislature should legislate and the courts should adjudicate.

No one should know ahead of time how a justice or judge will rule in a case. That's how an impartial judiciary should operate.

With the litmus tests applied by Democrats, it appears it would be next to impossible to nominate a jurist with a lot of case history behind them and expect them to be approved.

I believe we should have a very high chance of knowing how the Supremes will decide. We know the direction a case should take when the judges are constructionists.

Our nation has suffered greatly from the rulings of rogue judges, we couldn't count on for consistancy.
