California has passed legislation demanding that corporations headquartered in that state have at least one female on their board of directors by the end of 2019.

Stuck On Stupid.

The good news the law only applies to corporations which have California charters. The only one of real note is Apple. They have two so they are one director short.

They don't have to physically move, Apple just has to move where its incorporated from California to Delaware.

Very interesting. Do you think that a state should be able to tell a company who can sit on the Board of Directors? If we could reduce federal income taxes to about ten percent on the middle class, millions of women could leave the workforce, which would be something that the left would not like at all.

Didn't say I agreed with the law. I'm just pointing out it isn't the catastrophe some her would make it out to be for Apple. It will be disastrous for other smaller businesses.

No, I understood you. I was just wondering if it would stand up in court, but I suppose that it would. I never met any women on Boards when I worked downtown so women could really cash in on this if there is a shortage of qualified women or some women could be paid just to keep a chair warm for the government. Men on Boards are usually so rich that their wives are in high society. Oh, Gov. Evan Bayh did somehow manage to get his wife Susan appointed to the Board of Lilly Pharmaceuticals, but the Bayhs are not that rich. Not to say that Lilly would bribe a politician--just sayin'.

I think it's a bad idea, but the state of California has the constitutional authority to do it. If the people of California object, they can vote for new leaders to change it.

Picking leaders based on their sex instead of leadership qualities can only harm CA businesses... that and the people who actually deserved the job but won't get it due to sex-based affirmative action now.
