Cabbies NYC: Dress Code?

... I'm not paying them for their looks, why should I care what they wear? If anything I want it to be their choice so they can be comfortable. Who wants a cranky cab driver?!

Amen Sister ( and mention your thoughts to Mrs. Salty)

As long as they shower and cover up, I don't care. :)

What's really funny about downtown NYC is that if you don't live there and you go to visit, the first thing you notice is the overwhelming stench of garbage. Why not focus on fixing that little issue before moving on to appearances?

What about the sweatshops that exist there?
They're already working hard to keep places shut down that don't follow code or sell fake/stolen stuff, but it's still on every corner.

That's what gets me. There are so many things in this country that could use an honest makeover. It gets under my skin that stuff like this is even a thought, let alone something they're gonna spend time and money on trying to pass and enforce.

I am really not sure how dress codes are a detriment. In fact if I understood this article they are actually relaxing the standards, not stiffening them. While we may not have ever been a particularly moral country there was a time when there was laws and laws enforced about how someone dressed. At one time too much skin could land you in jail. As a child there was what was called burlesque shows and those shows were considered rank. However today openly on public streets the activities of some is far worse then any burlesque show back then. Going to the mall today is just about like looking at a girly mag back then and I have seen it spill over into the church. However because of the Postmodernism that is so ramped in both the world and church people cry that their rights have been violated.
In the case of the cabbies and especially NY with its complete lack of morality my guess is that there was a good reason for the standards.
