    Pharisaic maybe?

The Lord told us to watch out for stuff like that.

The "starbucks experience" on the Lord's Day is just another attempt to reach the world by appealing to its desires. It is a fundamental misunderstanding of man's lost condition to believe that we can reach the lost by appealing to the desires of lost people. I realize that drinking coffee on the Lord's Day is not a sin. But creating a "starbucks experience" to please Christ haters is wrong headed. Here is my question, are these so-called "coffee houses" in the church for reaching out to the lost or just for the saints to enjoying coffee?

Oh brother... :BangHead: It's a fundamental misunderstanding to believe God cannot work in the lives of the lost by appealing to their desires.

Let me guess...you probably think it is equally wicked to bring nations that don't have God's Word Bibles in their native tongue. If you are going to be consistent, having something you can read in your own language appeals to them

Don't feed the troll.. He will move away.. or go to the Pharisaical Board.

Either way, we have dealt with plenty of self-righteous trolls in the past.. IGNORE.

Only the most stubborn stick around.

Absolutely! A desire is not necessarily sinful. We desire food, shelter, companisonship...and coffee.

That has nothing to do with the conversation whatsoever. We are talking about desires. The one that doesn't understand and seek God has already rejected the truths presented to them. They still desire, food, shelter, etc.

    Matthew 25:

And he will place the sheep on his right, but the goats on the left. Then the King will say to those on his right, 'Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.' Then the righteous will answer him, saying, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink? And when did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you? And when did we see you sick or in prison and visit you?' And the King will answer them, 'Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.'

"The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this Publican..." -Luke 18:11

Your post, besides showing off pridefulness, is simply a logical trainwreck.

Of course, if your biggest concern is "eating with sinners and publicans," I guess I know a group you would fit in just fine.

The issue to not whether believers should eat with sinners. Believers should develop relationships with unbelievers and witness to them.

I thought this thread was about building "cafe houses" in churches and calling it a part of the churches ministry.

Evidently, for a few people at least, it is about calling people "pharisee" or "troll"who disagree with this practice.

Nevertheless, Grace and Peace to You!:jesus:

Desire is part of what draws us to Christ. So you do not have a desire for God? As far as cafe's go the intent is to get the attention of the lost, build a relationship, and have an opportunity where you have their full attention to present the gospel. It is not presented as the gospel or even part of it. Now you may still be in disagreement about that but we need to be clear about desires and what the cafe's are used for.

I think it's fine to have a little box for donations to help defray the cost of coffee and donuts or whatever, but I think a cafe is a bad idea.
