Canada: 491 Babies Born Alive After Failed Abortions, Left to Die

Figures from Statistics Canada, a federal government agency, show 491 babies were born alive following botched abortions during the period from 2000-2009 and left to die afterwards. The numbers have pro-life advocates up in arms.

Andre Schutten, legal counsel for ARPA Canada, noticed the numbers and blogged about them recently.

The blog Run with Life has reported that, from 2000 to 2009, 491 babies have been born alive following a failed abortion procedure, and subsequently left to die. And those are only the ones that are recordedby Statistics Canada.

When I was in high school in the early eighties, I was prodeath. I would have welcomed this news and had been indignant with the pro-overpopulation group objecting to this culling.

I took my Darwinistic reasoning to its logical conclusion. No who was too weak to support himself no matter what age had the right to live.

It isn't just Canada.

How Babies Were Left to Die: Nurse Recounts Horrors of Infanticide Practice Barack Obama Protected

August 12, 2008 (LifeSiteNews.com) - At the same time that the National Right to Life Committee has unearthed documents proving that Barack Obama repeatedly voted against a bill that would have protected children born alive after an attempted abortion,

---- "Christ hospital - and we now know other hospitals and clinics around the country - are involved in an abortion procedure called ‘induced labor abortion,’" says Stanek in the video, entitled "Kill and Destroy". In this type of abortion, she says, the abortionist inserts a medication into the birth canal of the mother and induces premature labor.

Induction Abortion - http://women.webmd.com/induction-abortion

Can you imagine not giving babies their basic human rights, no matter how they entered our world? Well, it is happening. In hospitals and abortion clinics around Australia babies are surviving abortions and then left to die or - in some cases, killed. http://www.humanrightsforunbornchildren.com/truth/05.html

When Abortion Fails
Failed abortion is an extremely rare, but possible, result of induced surgical abortion. Nevertheless, in the United States alone, roughly 700 pregnancies a year continue following an initial abortion procedure, and that over the past 25 years about 17,500 women required either a second procedure, or a more serious surgery, or changed their mind and continued the pregnancy to term.1

-------------
Infants are also known to survive late-term abortions.4 This outcome is now a less frequent occurrence with the use of KCL injections (potassium chloride) in late-term abortion, to ensure that a viable fetus does in fact die. As Ferguson and colleagues state, “We use urea to be certain that we effect fetal death. It is unsettling to all personnel to deliver these fetuses when they are not stillborn”.5 In the Ferguson study, 34 per cent of the abortions were on fetuses over 22 weeks gestation. (Fetal viability in premature birth is currently 23-24 weeks, and rarely babies born at 21-22 weeks have been resuscitated.)

---------
Failed Drug-Induced or “Medical” Abortion
Drug-induced or “medical” abortion has a higher failure rate than surgical abortion. When abortion is induced by the use of chemical prostaglandins or prostaglandin analogues, two possible scenarios may lead to failed abortion.
