    Okay, this week...

    Virginia Tech already won
    USC v. Washington St.
    Texas at Oklahoma St.
    Georgia at Florida
    Alabama v. Utah St.
    UCLA at Stanford

Georgia most likely to lose; but they should still have the advantage, even in "the swamp." But if there are to be 4 teams unbeaten at season's end-- which will cause the greatest ire and uproar over the BCS-- Georgia needs to win.

    Texas at Oklahoma St.

Texas is #1 in the BCS.
Oklahoma is ahead 3 TDs to 1TD at
the end of the first quarter.
Actually it is the final score
that counts, not the end of the first qtr [IMG]

OSU seems to have something on Texas for the first half; they've done that 3 years in a row. Some if it is just that the ball bounces their way, but they seem to be right there to take advantage. OSU must come out for Texas too high, or something, and can't keep that pace up for the whole game. Almost like they fill themselves up with sugar just before the game, and they're faster and quicker than they really are-- then comes the inevitable down time.

Anyway, we could still have 4 unbeatens at season's end-- USC or UCLA, Texas, Virginia Tech, and Alabama-- but the probabilities are more against it.

    This week:
    USC v. Stanford
    UCLA at Arizona
    Texas at Baylor
    Virginia Tech v. Miami
    Alabama at Mississippi St.

Will be a surprise if any game is even close except V.Tech-Miami. Texas, UCLA, and Alabama will be rooting for Miami, but if you want the greatest BCS controversey VTech needs to win.

Unless USC or Texas lose, apparently there won't be a BCS controversey this year. But if one (or both) of them do lose, then the controversey might come from leaving out an unbeaten Alabama by having USC, Texas, or Miami in front of them. USC and Texas are so far in front of #3 that it could be a case like Oklahoma in 2003, where the upset team still plays in the big one. But since IMO the odds are very small of Alabama finishing unbeaten all the way through the SEC CG, it's most likely one of 3 things for the BCS: 1) it's played out 'to perfection' with the top 2 both undefeated, or 2) either USC or Texas are upset in a game, and it's the remaining unbeaten against 2 or more once-beaten teams clamoring for the big one, or 3) both USC and Texas are upset late in the season so one or more once-beatens screams they were cheated. If Notre Dame and/or Ohio St. finish twice-beaten, no one will take their wails seriously. But if among USC, Texas, Miami, Alabama or Georgia, and Penn St., at least 4 are bombarding the NCAA with vicious, threatening emails and phone calls and letters, that would be the best negative message against the BCS.

But I am just apathetically rooting for Alabama to stay unbeaten so there is some conflict, as the other possibilities are more unlikely.

I don't see Alabama going unbeaten. First they have LSU this week, it may be at home but LSU is no slouch. Then they get GA in the SEC championship, Atlanta is as neutral for GA as Reliant Stadium would be for Texas A&M.

I think it will be USC and UT for it all.

Okay, so either USC or Texas, or both, lose a game, or there is no BCS "controversey" this year. This could be shaping up like 2001, as one of them lose, then who knows the psychological consequences for the other competitors? In 2001 after Nebraska lost, this set in motion a string of losses by other teams with one loss, which put Nebraska right back in the Rose Bowl, which was theirs to lose, then handed back to them.
