If President Bush does this without the Congress declaring war on Iran, then I think that both he and Vice President Cheney should be impeached.

Cheney pushes Bush to act on Iran

    · Military solution back in favour as Rice loses out
    · President 'not prepared to leave conflict unresolved'

The balance in the internal White House debate over Iran has shifted back in favour of military action before President George Bush leaves office in 18 months, the Guardian has learned.

The shift follows an internal review involving the White House, the Pentagon and the state department over the last month. Although the Bush administration is in deep trouble over Iraq, it remains focused on Iran. A well-placed source in Washington said: "Bush is not going to leave office with Iran still in limbo."

The White House claims that Iran, whose influence in the Middle East has increased significantly over the last six years, is intent on building a nuclear weapon and is arming insurgents in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Going to war without Congressional authorization(see Article I, Section 8 of the U.S. constitution).

Also, if President Bush does this nonsense you will see at least $6-7/gallon gasoline(and that may be a low estimate) and a second Great Depression.

The latter is not an impeachable offense but would cement President Bush at the bottom of the rankings of all U.S. presidents and pretty much destroy your children's economic future.

And no one has yet proven in any way that Iran has violated the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty. Prove this first, then we can talk about what to do about it.

Just say "NO" to the neo-"cons".

That didn't stop them the first time.
It would not surprise me in the least if we already have the invasion planned. How many carrier groups are in the area?

    Regards, hope all is well,
    BiR (heading back to Richmond)

    Duh.

We'd better have. It would be sheer lunacy not to have contingency plans for an invasion of Iran.

What we don't have are troops in place to do it. Carrier groups are incapable of invasion.

Congress gave him the authority to ignore the constitution. Maybe they should all be impeached.

Not only do I agree, Cheney should put on his hunting outfit and lead the invasion charge.

I'd be real careful about trusting these stories. I know the source of that story and amongst news people and bloggers, it's hardly considered a creditable source of info...

    Just an FYI...

If we don't have contingency plans, including various attack plans concerning Iran, that would be a great concern. Carrier groups don't invade, marines do. The carriers could sure rain down some very devastating lessons while the marines ready.

There is nothing impeachable in this course of action if the CIC chooses it.

We don't elect congressmen to make these decisions, we elect Presidents to do so. I thank God daily for this president, in spite of my disagreements as to many of his policies.

    1) Huh? A president has the constitutional authority to start a war anytime with any country he chooses?

    2) When was Article I, Section 8 of the U.S. constitutional amended to allow this?
