Featured Churches That Are Baptist but not by name

There are many who are Baptist ( SBC especially ) who do not use the name. I think is is a move in the wrong direction.
We offer more influence by being Baptist not hiding it.

We do not order a generic pie or ice cream, We specify a type

 

Two separate questions...
To the second question, "Are you deceiving if in your membership class you don’t explain your Baptist beliefs?" I'd answer YES. Membership classes should define beliefs and practices. Members are joining a family of believers with similar beliefs.

To the first question, Is it wrong to not have Baptist in your name if you are really Baptist in your belief?
I'd answer NO. A sign is a name. Names are descriptive in a variety of ways.

If the name 'Baptist' on the sign out in front of your church caused fewer visitors from your community to wander in and listen to the gospel message you preached, would you remove it?​

A generic church is a trick of the devil that has deceived so many. Look at all the dead or social club churches.
The world does not know what is taught in any church.
The "Baptist" within are usually spiritually starving for the meat of the word.
Unfortunately most do not know what to believe or why we are Baptist. That is why there are so many Baptist churches replicating a mass this Friday by having a service

 

Ideally, I guess yes. Around here, "Baptist" is a big turn off to people of color. If you want an integrated church, you can do it much easier if you drop the label.

Mmmmm, you Baptist via immersion. You believe in radical grace via the HS and you practice discipling. That is Baptist.

 

Catholics also

 

All I can honestly say I know about Catholics and race in this area is that all the historically white Catholic churches are now predominantly Hispanic. Catholicism in North Ga is booming due to Hispanic influx.

 

Same thing going on here, Hispanics are encroaching. Still they will tell you they would not select a Baptist Church over the new non denominational churches if they were to change churches. Baptist pastors know this and make adjustments to get them in the door.

 

The Baptist churches in this area that do have significant Hispanic membership have two services, the English service and the Spanish service.

 

Yep....that makes sense and in keeping with their way of doing things. Keeps them comfortable. In my neighborhood there was a POLISH CATHOLIC CHURCH, a Slovak Catholic Church, a Ukrainian, German, Irish. Italian ... all Catholic all with country of origin language masses (services).

 

What time is the traditional service? Hopefully no drums and electric guitars!
