Circumcision is the shedding of the "old" BECAUSE something "new" is to be "revealed".

Mankind's FLESH is the individual's "original / old flesh". Without shedding it...ie giving it to death, something "new" can not be revealed.

Did God have "anything" "old" that required "shedding" ?

There you would have to discover, the "FLESH" God prepared for Himself, for when He came into the world to "be seen" of mankind.

That "flesh" was a flesh He took upon Himself, and that "flesh" was the flesh that was "circumcised".

Why? Because mankind is ignorant, stubborn, stiffnecked and REQUIRE "seeing to believing". Thus God gave, ignorant, stubborn, stiffnecked mankind something to SEE, as an EXAMPLE to follow, and was rightfully called Teacher.

Think that in this case, flesh refers to JUST a small piece by ones particular organ, period!

Scripture notifies you it was a commandment given to the faithful to God in the OT.
    Scripture notifies you for the most part men in the OT got mostly direction/ commands/ laws/ rules;
    ....and little understanding.
Scripture notifies you, as generations of people were born, they had a history, experiences, and were gaining maturity and thus given more knowledge and more understanding ABOUT God.

In the NT, a man gives his WHOLE body to death, not just a foreskin.
In the OT, a man and woman were ONE, and a faithful man was the head of his faithful family, and what applied to the man, applied to his family and clan.

In the NT, we find more "individuals", and today, "men AND woman" not in a marriage and "open" to "individually" submitting to the Lord.

Nearing the end of the OT, was introduced the knowledge of the circumcision of the heart. Not a physical event, but rather spiritual, via an act of God, according to His way and order of what is acceptable to Him, given to faithful mankind.

A man ~ body (form) has many members within his body. Not only physical, that can be dissected and observed, but also spiritual. Life OF the body is it's blood. Life that quickened the body to living is the soul from God.

Man also has a natural spirit, which IS "his" truth, in "his" heart. It can be keep hidden from others, even when his mind thinks, deceives, speaks the truth or lie, the mans "truth" (natural spirit) is always in the thoughts of his heart.

    1Cor.2
    1. [11] For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God.

Scripture speaks at lengths of a corrupt heart of mankind. Wicked, evil, conniving, corrupt etc. thoughts in a mans heart. And scripture teaches that for a man WHO believes and desires to be faithful and committed unto the Lord ~ that the Lord will circumcise his heart ~ which is to CUT AWAY the old natural carnal corrupt desires of a mans natural spirit and give him a new heart ~ a new spirit that is thus ~ what we call "born again in the spirit". Thus our old corrupt heart is gone, and a new heart, and a new spirit, which is made acceptable for the Spirit of God to dwell, and feed us His Truth, which is the Spirit of Truth, which is Christ the Power of God and Jesus the Truth and Word of God.

Disciples got their "teaching" face to face with the Lord, who came to earth in the likeness as a man.
After Jesus bodily left the earth, His teaching did not stop ~ His Spirit enters Every man who is born again, and continues teaching those who diligently seek His knowledge, wisdom and understanding.

    Ezek.18
    1. [31] Cast away from you all your transgressions, whereby ye have transgressed; and make you a new heart and a new spirit: for why will ye die, O house of Israel?

    Rom 2

[29] But he is a Jew, which is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, and not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God.

    Rom.15
    1. [8] Now I say that Jesus Christ was a minister of the circumcision for the truth of God, to confirm the promises made unto the fathers:
    2Cor.3
    1. [3] Forasmuch as ye are manifestly declared to be the epistle of Christ ministered by us, written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God; not in tables of stone, but in fleshy tables of the heart.

All Hebrews/Jews were circumcised (foreskin) as a ritual performed first by Abraham and his family, and then on infant babies. And a Jew Who was circumcised and was faithful, their circumcision continued in countenance as submission in faithfulness. A Jew Who is not faithful; their circumcision is not accounted.

    Rom.2
    1. [25] For circumcision verily profiteth, if thou keep the law: but if thou be a breaker of the law, thy circumcision is made uncircumcision.
Gentiles have circumcision of the heart, because of following Christ's Way, giving our body to death.
Jews have adherence to their law, traditions, festivals, etc. and circumcision of the foreskin.
