The Candace Owens Show: Carol Swain

"The Left has created a slew of terms such as “white guilt” and “white privilege” to collectively judge Americans by race. So is there actually systemic racism in our country? Carol Swain, Former Professor of Political Science and host of Be the People Podcast, and Candace Owens discuss."

This is at about 20 minutes into the discussion:

Note: I certify that Owens and Swain are black enough to say the following.

Owens: ...everyone is clamoring to be a victim...and starting really young.

Swain: And here's something I find very interesting, if being black is so bad in this society, why are so many white people trying to be black? And when I was teaching as a professor, we talked about 'ethnic fraud'. We knew that there were people that were not racial and ethnic minorities that would check in the Affirmative Action box passing as minorities. So, if it was so bad to be black, or so bad to be a minority why were they trying to pass [as one]?

Back in the slave days and during the Jim Crow days, you had black people that passed that they were light enough into the white world, and now you have all these white people that are trying to pass into the black world.

Owens: Right? And that's interesting, and I say the same thing about biracial people that have a platform, and they choose to talk about being black and not being white. Colin Kaepernick's a great example, right? He's half white; he was raised by two white parents--actually he was adopeted fortunately, but rather than say anything positive about white people, he has decided to be black, to grow an Afro out, and to pick his hair out, and if being black is ultimately what leads to oppression, ... what led to him to have these million-dollar deals with Nike...if being black is so bad, why are so many people choosing it?

The entire session is worth a listen, but here are a few more points of interest.

[16:50] Swain intentionally took courses from professors other blacks tagged as racist. They turned out to be conservative and very encouraging in her efforts to succeed.

[18:37] Swain tells anecdote about liberal white professor in grad school, also female, who yelled at her that she would never be able to change the fact that she was a black woman.

[27:37] Swain says that race relations are worse now than ever in her lifetime, that we are headed backward rather than forward.

Here are some particularly poignant points.

[38:02] Swain has concluded that Progressives hate blacks, because Progressives pushed eugenics, sterilization, Planned Parenthood abortions, defunding police knowing it would raise crime rates in black communities, protests that exposed more blacks to Covid, and shutting down public schools.

[38:54] "Everything that Progressives do hurts people of color more than any other group. What bothers me most is that there are so many…black leaders that are cooperating with the destruction of their own people." Because of self-interest.
