Yes, the Big 12 (10) is here to stay, at least for now.

And yes, Houston was part of the SWC, though they were a later addition to the conference, only joining in 1971 but that is where they were in the early 80s with all of their basketball success.

At this point, the Pac 11 really needs to become the Pac 12 and Utah seems to be the one that everyone is talking about but I think Colorado state would make a lot more sense geographically and would keep the tradition of in state rivalries alive.
It is about on par with Washington st so it should be ok in the Pac 12.

It is especially important for basketball to have an in state rival for Colorado because they way they do things is, for instance, Arizona and AZ St both will Fly to oregon for a week end.
Arizona plays Oregon while AZU and OSU play on THursday. Then they swap for Saturday games.
Unless they add a Colorado team, they will have to add a second flight everytime they play Colorado.

Thanks -- we'll just agree to disagree. (Rarely happens on this board.)

Amazing that after all of the talk, the Big 12 (now 10) is staying together. I just don't see how Texas, OK and others "fit" into the Pac 10.
