I liked the "Redneck" wedding pictures ---- simply "smashing" ---- the bride is an adorable "dawlin'"

    Good Morning Everybody,

Hey Sue: It's supposed to be 51 today, with a chance of Thunderstorms. Not a snowflake in sight or in the forecast. Rain is a lot easier to shovel than snow.

I brought in Breakfast Pizza, Sausage-Mushroom-Onion Tarts(for those who have colds, LOL),Egg and Sausage Breakfast Strudel, and Breakfast Calzones. Enjoy!

The Chocolate Dessert of the Day is... Black Forest Delight Cake and Chocolate Passion Bowl.

What with my fall, and other things on my mind, I finally remembered something...I have nothing planned for Christmas Dinner!!!! * GULP *

I've only got the Youth Home for a meal this year so I'll make them the same thing our Family is having.
I "racked" my brain(picture somebody getting a camelot-type "attitude adjustment" type of torture) and came up with the following:
Smoked Ham with Bourbon, Brown Sugar, and Cola Glaze, Braised Brisket & Creamy Wild Mushrooms, Creamy Horseradish Mashed Potatoes, Sweet Potato Crisp, Rosemary Applesauce, Roasted Green Peppers with Onions and Peppers, Citrus, Bacon and Pecan Salad, Chocolate Cream Ornament Cake, and Peppermint Chocolate Pudding Pie. I hate panic meal planning, you pray there is enough variety to please everybody.

MK: The other day my "friends" didn't "stick me" with the check. I initiated the meeting, so they were my guests. A good Host never lets his guests pay for the meal. On the other hand, it was the "cheapest" education I ever got and well worth the money.

Time to get my chores done.

I agree, Rob, except snow doesn't leak through the sunporch roof and ruin my decorations like rain does... :BangHead:

The groom left a lot to be desired...

Morning everyone - No snow here and none in the forcast. :( I really want snow!! I love it but this weather will not let it happen (it's 9:45 AM and 45 degrees so I'm guessing we'll be around 50 today). All I have to do today is to go up to church and set up the church service, then hit up the supermarket for food for the next few days. I'll make up stuff for my dad this weekend too - I give him food for Christmas in addition to the gifts I get him. Fortunately, it should be a relatively quiet weekend for us, though. I'll make one more batch of jam tomorrow and some cookies as well as the food - and I just want to hit up Blockbuster to see if I can get my dad one of the old TV series like Hunter, Quincy, Matlock or something like that. He just got a DVD player so I thought that would be fun. I'm done with all of the rest of the shopping, though - WHEW!!! ;)

No snow, but a little icy rain to-day, and over the next four days. Journey's mercies for any who must travel at this time.

Mr. Spurgeon wrote: Thus faith quiets us by resignation, as a babe is hushed in his mother's bosom. Faith makes us quite willing to do without the mercy which once we prized; and when the heart is content to be without the outward blessing, it is as happy as it would be with it; for it is at rest.

    I like that.

    Cheers, and God bless everyone,

    Jim

Raining here too. It might snow just a little bit on Christmas Day, but no one here will care, as this year, Christmas is more like Thanksgiving Day - football!

I guess the ladies will retreat to the kitchen. Will there be a mushy christmas special to watch while the Eagles smash the Cowboys?

LOL, Barnabas! I guess you could eat it but what you are supposed to do is fry the onions in some lard and spread it on your chest! The fumes supposedly break up the congestion. For an added kick I understand you can add some mustard to the mix!

    Good Morning Everyone!

Today will be spent finishing up Christmas shopping and like Ann, buying up enough groceries to last the next four days.

Rob, I'll plan my menu as I walk through the grocery store. How's that for advance planning? :D All I know at this point is that we're having turkey cause I already have a 20 pounder in the deep freeze!

I also have to make sure there is plenty for the dinner we are having tomorrow night. And I still need to make it home in time to clean carpets this evening.

Just a few things to keep me busy, but it is finally starting to seem like Christmas around here and I'm beginning to feel the Christmas spirit. :)

While T and I are out, I'm going to set the kids to making cookie dough. They can bake them this evening. Mean momma won't let kids use the oven while I'm out, even though I used to use the oven when I was their age. If they get desperate for their own cooking they can bake a few in the toaster oven.

Ya'll have a good day, I'm going to go get started on mine.

Can I just say that a Christmas Eve service takes a LONG time to set up? Try 5 1/2 hours for a 1 hour service! LOL! That was a bit much - but it should be absolutely beautiful - I wish you all could come to our church for Christmas Eve. We have a beautiful reading of Luke (with some amazing graphics to go with it, if I do say so myself), some wonderful songs, and the young girls are dancing/doing streamers/flags to 2 songs - The Night of Alleluias and We 3 Kings. I was just mesmorized!!

But I'm done now and can relax. Bob and I went out to dinner and some shopping and I got a wrist rest for my mouse! Yeah!! And it's only 3 weeks until I have my carpal tunnel surgery! I can't wait! LOL! I'm SO ready to be rid of this weakness and pain.

    Good morning all,

I am up very early, but I was so tired last night that I fell asleep on the couch around 7:30 and just now woke up!

Family is coming this morning to take pictures, open presents, take pictures, fellowship, take pictures, eat 'goodies', and take pictures.

I have a busy morning and must make a run to the deli before they get here.

    Y'all have a great day!

§ue (Did I mention taking pictures?) :wavey:

My goodness Menageriekeeper, that must be awfully hot!!!! Doesn't it burn your chest? What does it really supposed to do - cure you or kill you? I know I would expire if somebody would put hot fried onions on my chest. :tongue3: On the other hand, my wife sautés chopped onions sometime, throwing 3-4 eggs on top for breakfast. Now that is enough to cure whatever ails you - not to mention that it will suppress your cravings for other food until noon. :)

Lady Sue, you forgot to mention that you will be taking pictures.....

    Good Morning Everybody,

The only problem is that Sue didn't say where she was taking the pictures to. Taking pictures to the deli perhaps?

Barnabas: Sauted Onions with Eggs on top sounds great!!

Today brother Barnabas brought in Eggs over Sauteed Onions, and breath mints. I brought in Skillet Sausage with Potatoes and Rosemary, and Mini-Sticky Pecan Buns. Enjoy! Today's Chocolate
dessert is Double Chocolate Fudge Cups.

I have to go grocery shopping today and get the last of the ingredients I need for Christmas dinner. I'd rather face a pack of ferocious dogs than do any type of shopping today, but it can't be helped.

My gifts are all wrapped. Coal really isn't that hard to wrap is it?

I have a break tonight. Dinner is going to be Leftovers. Should be enough to satisfy everybody's preferences. Funny though, we never seem to have leftover desserts. Tonight I'll throw together a Chocolate Cheesecake Flan for dessert. It's easy, and fun to make.

Time to do my chores, then face the hordes of shoppers.

I'll eat the onions fried with potatos, but I'm not going anywhere near any eggs! Yuck, yuck, yuck!

    Good Morning Everyone!

Rob, I faced the crowds yesterday and then discovered I forgot a couple of things so I have to go back out! I may just make due without cause it is scary out there.

Today's mission is to get the house ready for company tonight and make enough chicken and dumplin's for around 16 people.

    See ya!

I just got back from the grocery store - what a chore that was!! But atleast I have everything I need until about Wednesday - except I'll pick up some more milk tomorrow.

On today's docket, I have to do lots of cooking. I cook for my dad each year and this year will be no exception. I hope to have 4 mini meatloaves, 4 batches of Italian Beef Stew and 4 batches of meatballs for him. I'll do the chicken cooking next week because I just don't have time but will have lots of time next week when the teens and Bob are all away. Then we're going to bake a batch of cookies for fun - and just for us to eat!! I'll wrap gifts as I can (I have the dining room table set up for wrapping and I'm grabbing a gift here and there to wrap - I should hopefully be done by bedtime. Yeah!! That makes me feel SO good to have all of this done!

    Ann

Good morning all and Merry Christmas Eve!

We all had a good time yesterday and ate lots of food and took lots of pictures!

This is great grandson's first Christmas so that made it even more special. He is such a doll and SO happy and contented!

We always let Brent open one present on Christmas Eve night, but this year he will open it this morning instead. The one he will open is a new suit to wear to church. He outgrew his other one and he will be thrilled with this one! He is growing too fast. He will be 13 in three weeks...

He got Ice Age - Melt Down on DVD from his Aunt yesterday, so we will be watching that tonight (as well as the original Ice Age and drinking eggnog and eating s'mores (family tradition for Christmas Eve as well as New Year's Eve).

Tomorrow morning (late), Brent and another grandson, Stephen, hubby, and I will be opening the rest of the presents. Then we will have Christmas dinner.

    Time for coffee!
