    Good Morning all!

T gets kid duty this morning while I go to church. It is so cold here and with all the sickness they had I don't want to take them out. Son had been pretty healthy and the as yesterday passed he came down with a rather nasty cold. I thought Precious was coming with, but her ear is hurting again. I really hope I don't have to spend another $50 taking her back to the doctor.

    Have a good day!

menageriekeeper, I'll be in prayer for the situation. [IMG]

Hi all, we lost power until just a short while ago. Church had been cancelled for the first service and Sunday School but then we had no power at church or heat so nothing doing. They've already canceled discipleship class for tonight too.

It only got down to 65° in our house. We have gas heat but an electric blower so we had to use the gas logs. I could only cook on the top of the stove because of the electric starters. The oven can't be lit with a match. Some safety device prevents it. BUT..... it's warming back up now and we spent the morning playing a Family Proverbs game we got for Christmas.

Need to iron and dry some clothes that didn't get dried last night before the power went off. TTYL

Ug, no power! That is why I hate ice.

Did you get the snow behind that you were expecting yesterday?

No but we did get MORE ice during the night. All the trees and bushes are coated. It's very pretty but we've seen a few trees down in our neighborhood. We'd lost one during the high winds last week that damaged our nice fence. Jim can fix it tho. [IMG] We have another tree broken in half from the wind and we can cut it down when it warms up.

I feel VERY blessed our electric is back on. Many in Atlanta still have no heat, hot water, etc.

Maybe Gib, you are an enthusiastic addict!

Hey Diane, is your church hosting a single women's conference? Our church is sending a group for the conference, but didn't specify exactly which church was hosting the event. I guess you have to be single to qualify for that info! ;) [IMG]

We had most of the trees close to the house cut down last summer. We left the oak tree that is at one end so we would have some shade. I still have a couple of sweetgum trees and a pine tree I'd like to have removed but it is not at the top of the priority list. This summer's project is to get the pool replaced. The new pool has been sitting in the garage for two summers now.

I've not heard of a single women's conference. We have a number of college girls but not many single women. Is it in Villa Rica? Probably Midway Macedonia Baptist if it is. They're about our size but cater to more of the 'I'm Okay, You're Okay' type groups. ;)

Hey Gib.... I'm nearing 20,000 posts! Did you notice titles don't change if you have a photo?

Yep, in Villa Rica. I'm pretty sure our singles group is made up mostly of college kids. Older single folks are usually divorced and part of the Divorce Care group.

Don't see it on the upcoming events but different groups also use our church because of its size and easy to reach location.

The date I have is for Feb 4-5.

Your "This Hope" concert sounds like fun. We usually have some sort of concert on the first Sunday night of the month. I haven't heard anything about next week though. It is one of the few times handle all three kids together in service by myself.

Hopefully we'll be able to make Wednesday night services this week. Most of the childrens activities are on Wednesday and mine have been missing out because of all this sickness.

I've never heard of 'This Hope'. I can't find them online either. Have you heard of them?

You know I'm not sure, Diane. We had several groups to come through whose concerts I didn't get to go to. The name sounds very familiar though.

The kids and I aren't to particular with our music. We just like to go and enjoy and if it isn't to our taste we discuss afterward what we liked and disliked. If we REALLY don't like it we would quietly leave. Since we sit in the balcony leaving unobtrusively is rather easy. Most folk sit downstairs, but I prefer the balcony because there are less people for the kids to disturb.

I'd assume, since they're performing both morning and night that it's not a CCM group. I'd love to have some of the Gaither folk come.

The tickets to Downhere (a Saturday night concert) will sell out. We had another CCM group a few months ago and the tickets sold out really fast.

I'd written our M or M to ask if he had a link to the group but he never checks his email. LOLOL

Good evening to all my BB friends.

I hope you all had a great day in the Lord - even if you had back trouble or were iced in.

It got up into the 30s today in western New York.
Sure beats those below zero temps we had last week!

    Good morning all:

It was warmer here too yesterday and sunny. A lot of the snow melted, but we are expecting more today. It is 27º right now. Feels like a heat wave!

    Cruising,

BRIGHT and SUNNY here! 30 degrees here does seem like a heat wave, Sue!

Great pictures of Oreo. But being a cat, I hope he won't let his fame go to his head. They can be so self-absorbed, you know.

Diane, glad to hear you got your power back. Was thinking of you when I heard that on the news.

Saturday I went to an Australia Day party at the home of a missionary from Australia who's here working with our church. We had barbecued lamb steaks, fried meat pies, and chocolate-cherry muffins (small ones, about an inch wide). Salad and drinks, and Australian candy. Since this holiday is in the middle of summer there, we were asked to come dressed accordingly. (See my thread on the subject for the invitation.) I wore pink sweatpants with a brighly flowered summer top, and a pink sweater. Some young folks wore flip-flops and capris. I hope they had real shoes for the trip home. The house was decorated with the Australian flag, and all sorts of stuffed toys representing animals from down under. Certainly the strangest party I've ever been to! But a good time was had by all, young and old alike.
