What? No one has said good morning and now it is afternoon? Where is everyone?

I'll tell you where all my folks are except poor T and that is AT HOME! School is officially out for the summer! Yay! They all survived and passed and even now their teachers are celebrating the fact that they won't be back next year! :D ;) [IMG]

I'm supposed to be helping Cassie pack for her trip, but we haven't gotten that far yet. I just don't feel well today so I'm resting, mostly, and they are enjoying the stress free quiet.

    Ya'll have a good afternoon!

Good morning MK. [IMG] Yay for no school! My kids get out next week.

We have a little girl spending the weekend with us. That means I'll have to have one of my kids stay in my bedroom. After all my work to get them to let that be my little sanctuary. *sigh* [IMG] I'll just have to renew the effort after. I got tired of having them walk up to me no matter where (bathroom, cooking, doing homework, etc.) and declared my bedroom off limits unless I specifically said "you may come in here". MINE MINE MINE! They were JUUUUSSSSTTTT now starting to get it. You know, even at this age they still haven't stopped doing that asking questions while you're in the bathroom thing. What's up with that? It's like some irrestistable force that drives them. You get in there, five seconds later "moooommmy, can I have a cookie? Moooommmy, did you take the dog out yet? Mooommmyy, what's for dinner?"

I even tried doing it back to them, but they don't even care. In fact, sometimes they seem to appreciate it, keeps them from getting bored while they're sitting there or something. Sometimes they even initiate it, calling out while they're in there to ask how many rolls of TP have to be gone before we go buy more or something.

Ok, back to work. You know, I had to call four different number just to ask when Entenmenn's Crumb Cakes were first introduced for sale, just to make a little tiny comment in a paper I'm writing, which wasn't even about cake. Cake was mentioned in the paper. LOL I just felt the need to comment on how the play couldn't have been written earlier because Entenmann's hadn't introduced the mentioned cake yet back then...I'm WHACKO I tell ya!

Hope you all have a good day. A peaceful one, one in which you may use a restroom all alone, without having to engage in thought and answer questions while doing so. (it's always those little things that make up a good day, isn't it?)

LOL Gina! Even our cat doesn't think I can go to the bathroom without supervision! I guess they are all afraid we'll flush ourselves! [IMG]

    Good afternoon all,

I forgot I hadn't checked in this morning. I starting coming down with a cold or Bronchitis last night and didn't get to sleep until 3:00 a.m. I can't tell yet what it is going to turn into, but what a time to get it!

My bedroom is off limits except when Brent is really sick and then he would rather sleep in a sleeping bag on my bedroom floor than in his comfy bed.

Of course, I can't go to the bathroom without everyone knowing it. Everytime I leave a room, Brent will ask me where I'm going.

I'm going to try and catch a quick nap before fixing supper.

    HAGD all!

When I was little I dreamed of being a policeman like my father. I grew older and it seemed every few years my dreams and goals drifted from one milestone to another.....

I turned 40 and the only thing I really wanted was one trip to the loo without company. No fame, fortune or folly. Just one trip, during normal waking hours without interruption.

Does it a actually happen or am I living in a fantasy world?

    It's just a fantasy, Padre.

Sue! You said the word nap and I promptly fell asleep in my chair! Trying hard to wake up now but I'm not having much luck. Finally had Chris put me on a pot of coffee.

So much for the housework. Sleeping isn't very productive. At least most of Cassie's clothes for her trip are ready to pack.

Someone tell me what to do to wake up!

Still trying. My body is rebelling! Gonna fix dinner and go to bed and try again tomorrow. I have figured out that I'm tired because I'm sick. But I don't want to be sick so if I don't claim it, it won't be it! right?

A cup of coffee helped some so I'm considering another cup. Gotta yawn first.....

Take a walk around the block before you go to bed. You'll feel better and may even be able to stay up!

I, on the other hand, am going to bed. lol

I'm trying to keep this cold from going bronchial on me - at least until after Monday...

    Pleasant dreams all!

Talk about kids talking to you when you're in the bathroom. At least one of mine talks to me when she's in the bathroom.

There's just no-o-o-o-o rest for a weary mama.

I think I'll go have my own little private pity party now. [IMG] [IMG]

Hey, cool, I just saw the link for "printer-friendly view of this topic" ... and I've only been on here how long???

I was pretty sure I was the, uh, the, uh, ugh, now I can't think of the word. You know, when you always notice stuff around you ... Somebody's just gotta know the word I'm looking for.

Oh, well, it has been a long and rather wet day.

    Well . . .i have a bit of a rant here.
Yesterday Carl took the van to the KIA dealer for an oil change. he drove the 30 plus miles home. Then the kids and I drove the 30 miles to church. When we had driven the 30 miles back home, I noticed a shiny puddle in the carport right where we park the van. Told hubby about it when he got home, he went and checked . .it was oil!
This morning he called the Service Dept and they sent a wrecker to take the van to the dealership and check out what they did incorrectly and there better not be any engine damage when we get it back!!
    They didn't call today. . .
We're going out of town this weekend, that car would be cramped if we have to use it!

Maybe moving the loo indoors wasn't such a great idea!

    Cheers,

    LOL Jim!

Of course my kids would probably make me accompany them to the outhouse to make sure there wasn't a bug in there!

Gayla, I'll pray for you. I'd send you earplugs if there was time. Cramped kids=constant bickering.  On second thought, you probably be better off with tranquilizers instead---for the kids! (benedryl works nicely :D )

Hello everyone! So y'all are trying to tell me that the kids are NOT supposed to follow you into the bathroom and ask you a million questions?!?! DUH! Why hasn't someone told MY kids that. They don't think that they can talk to me anywhere else. LOL! SO what do y'all have planned for Memorial Day(USA)? I,unexpectedly, got the day off. A cooworker of mine on the opposite rotation from me wanted to swap and give me the day off. Blew me away! But not one to turn down a day off, I agreed! So, now I get to figure out what I am going to do(besides the laundry) for Memorial Day. Barbeque sounds good...

Welcome to the Coffee House RN!

I've told my kids that the bathroom is supposed to be private, but they don't believe me. Can't tell the cat nuttin!

Memorial Day? I've got a big (and I mean BIG) beef eye of round roast that I'm considering putting on the grill and smoking. Haven't really decided though. I'll be a kid short that day cause my oldest is going on a cruise with her grandparents. She hasn't left yet and I'm already missing her! So I may be to depressed to bother with much of anything. I also have some sirloin in the deep freeze, so if I don't feel like bothering with the roast my son can cook those. Either way, I'll add a baked potato and a salad (out of a bag) and that'll be that.

Can you tell I don't like to cook? :D

Don't like to cook? This is your first rebuke. After this you only get one more, and then according to the biblical principles of heresy, you're OUTTA HERE woman! [IMG]

I get very tired of cooking just regular stuff in a rush for all of us, but when I have time to cook and the means to cook what I want to, I'm in heaven. It's almost a religious thing. I'll stand there and sing and cook and have stuff steaming and sizzling and knives and utensils and chopped stuff surrounding me and I'm going back and forth and heaven forgive the person who interrupts me! My kids already know that one...the youngest attempted the other day and the other two practically dragged her off like a criminal screaming "NOT WHILE SHE'S COOKING!" [IMG]

Now you've challenged me to change your mind. Why don't you like to cook? Think of it this way. You're not doing a job, you're creating something. You're taking raw material, the age old mystery of the earth giving of her soul for your nourishment. You are given that gift, that wonderful present made of earth and the sun's light and mysterious energy, it is plucked from the earth and now is in your hands. You take it and mold it to a pleasing shape. You take of the bold rich seasonings and you blend them to just the right touch and the gifts meld together in the cooking utensil of your choice, lovingly crafted together in a rich summary that is a unique unison of nature and your own mind. You have made this, this nourishment for your body and for those you love to take and hold deep inside them, to take in and thrive on, to grow on, to be healthy from.

What greater gift could you give? [IMG]

    Good morning all,

RN: Welcome to the CH! I hope you become a regular. We're just like a little family in here. [IMG]

MK: Don't like to cook? Ok, there has to be a commandment you are breaking. [IMG]

Gina: After your description, I feel like the world's most special person because, it seems like, all I do is cook! :D

Gayla: Glad the van is in shape for your week-end. [IMG]

My plans for Memorial Day are very special to me because all my children, grandchildren, and greatgrandson will be here for a family picnic. They will be coming from Indiana, Wisconsin, Kansas, and four cities in Illinois. [IMG]

I already have all of my canned and dry ingredients to make all the food. Tomorrow, I'm going to the Farmer's Market to pick up the fresh ingredients I need. Tomorrow will be preparation day for a lot of the salads.

Sunday afternoon, I will make more food and Monday morning will be for putting the ingredients together in food that has to be made at the last minute.

We are meeting at the park, in a large pavillion, around 11:00 Monday morning. Whew! I hope "I" can be there on time...

    Time for coffee,

    Thanks for the welcome!!
Well, I have a pretty small family so it will be me and hubby, our 2 kids and my sis and her hubby and 4 kids. I may be able to get mom to stay awake long enough to come, but she has to work Monday night so she has to sleep sometime. I think I may get some steaks and some chicken and fresh veggies and grill away. With my schedule, I don't get to cook as much as I like to. I love to cook with fresh ingredients-tastes soooo much better that way. I wish we had a good farmers market near here*sigh*. But I do have relatives with gardens so I get to get some real fresh veggies on occasions.
