Depends on how ya do it, course if it's the kind you have to add the adheisive to then yeah, course it's been so long I can't remember the easier way....come to think of it thats why I paint!!!
Ya can paint over most wallpater ya know!!

 

Can't paint over wall paper that's peeling up at the seams. Every single seam. Whoever ruined my walls with this stuff evidently didn't know that you are supposed to overlap the seams just a hair to account for shrinkage later on.

If I wasn't to cheap to rent a steamer, it'd probably be down already. But I am so I'm doing things the hard way by scritching holes through it and spraying it with hot water or Diff. Hot water mostly cause I don't like using chemicals if I don't have too. To many migrainy kids around here.

When I do the kitchen though, I'm renting that steamer. I have to talk myself into that job though cause inch of wall space not covered by cabinets is covered by wallpaper. OOooohh! I like to get hold of whoever put this stuff up and make them take it down!

Menageriekeeper: We are using a steamer and it still "ain't" that easy on wallpaper that has been on the wall for 30 years..washable wallpaper, and it was hung properly. We just wanted a change to painted walls. I almost thought about just removing the walls and putting up new wallboard!!!!!

Jim, I believe it would be almost as easy to put up new wall board and I know what I'm talking about. We did our own walls when we built the library and believe me they look better than most of the walls in the house. I've begun to believe this house was slapped together and wall paper put up to hide the defects in the plaster job. I've found several places that have been repaired but not sanded properly.

I have managed to peel the walls in the front half of the bath. I'm rewarding myself with a Diet. Dr Pepper Berries and Cream. Tomorrow I'll peel the other half and then start filling in all the little holes where the previous owners hung things without the proper support. They were bad about just sticking nails in the walls. Once that's done I'll have to sand the doors and moldings some because they used glossy paint on them.

Well, Agee is in the sewin room with my soldering iron!! Don't know what she'll accomplish though cause someone took my solder. It's gotts be in a truck somewhere in Kentucky rite now.
They have us in a flash flood watch again till sometime tomorrow.
BH won't be in tonite, she's actin poorly for some reason. I had her out for a good while yesterday & she was havin a ball, but today she's been pitiful most of the day. Just have to wait'er out & see what tomorrow brings.
Well guess I'll go see how my Honey is doing with that iron!! Have a Blessed Night!!

Morning all:

Sue! That's wonderful news! I'm glad that prayers being lifted up were answered. Walking is one of the best things you can do. Don't be in a hurry to try and push yourself. Viv's dearly departed grandma walked just a few hundred feet after he third heart attack and increased it by 25 to 50 feet each monh. It really did her good.

Well, it rained most of the day yesterday. It was cooler last night and that was a relief. It's cooler today as well. Praise the Lord for that! It's only 68 right now and breezy! It's only going to get into the mid 80's!

Good Morning All!

Got up to cooler weather this morning. Nice and cloudy and only about 77 or so when I got up. So I cleaned out the attic and put the Christmas stuff away! Tomorrow I'll clean out the garage and another chunk of spring cleaning will be done!

Yesterday's extra kids are all here today plus one I wasn't expecting. But, they are all staying in their own groups and leaving each other alone.

I'm going to rest for a moment and then go peel the walls in the other half of the bathroom. I have to kill the spider first. I found him sharing the shower with me this morning.

In a former ghost reply,,which vanished...I did remark about attics used for storage. Our attics are primarily for the roof rafters and the ceiling to the upper floor rooms. I have seen older three-storey houses with a solid floor attic space with stairs leading to it. You all must have these type of houses. I read about people using attics for storage all the time.

My house is weird, Jim. I actually have three attics because of the way the house is built. We have a two story section in the middle with a single story section on each end. On end is the livingroom and it has an inaccessible attic over it. (you can get to, but you'd kill yourself trying to put anything in it)

The other end is a two car garage and it has the storage attic over it. This is what I cleaned out today and reorganized. This is where we keep Christmas decorations, old toys, part of T's collection of model kits and small pieces of old furniture.(like the kids kiddie rocking chairs) You get to it with a fold down ladder, no stairs.

There is a third attic over the two story section, but you get into that through the ceiling of Cassie's bedroom closet. If I'm going to have to go to that trouble, I'd just soon throw whatever it is away!

Our house is twenty years old sometime this year, we think. Earliest paper work we can find on it says 1987.

Wall peeling didn't go so well today. The wallpaper in this section of the bath is thicker and heavier than yesterday's and whoever put it up did NOT intend for it to come down! I've only managed to get about a third of it down. Of course there is more of it in this part, but still......I worked a hour on a space about 1' by about 4', then I discovered the key. This stuff has to be scored and dampened, then you wait, then dampen it again, then wait, then dampen and then you can pull just the top plasticy layer off. Then you dampen the layer of paper and glue and wait, and dampen, until it soaks the rest of the way through and it scrapes right off!

Now, who wants to come help?

 

I have two fears about using an attic space for storage. (1) the fear of fire in a tight storage area; (2) that anything stored in an attic removes the function of an attic. An air space between roof and ceiling, which should be maintained with proper air ventilation to ensure a reasonable life to timbers and especially the roofing materials.

On the wallpaper. I came to the same conclusion. Some wallpapers are especially water-proof and called "washable". Stands to reason it will not absorb water. The perforations made in the wallpaper allows the water to reach the under side and thus make it removeable.

Our problem now is that we take more time looking at it than working at it.........:saint:

OK...try this again.
BH is kinda sick, we spent a good part of the day tending to her. Agee was off today so she played nurse. She did seem to be a little more perky when I checked on her awhile ago, but it seems she may have some type of kidney, or bladder infection. Just don't know what to do rite now. This is the only bad side to having her...no place to take her if she is really sick.
Guess I'll just hope she can heal on her own, least I can help with outer-body problems.

 

Preacher, Why don't you check out some website for herbal remedies and give them a go. There must be some veterinary site that would offer some help.
