Conservative/Republican Choice for President 2004

Pa.Jim, We want the same thing, however we don't see the same thing when we look at the picture.
I'm a conservative first and what ever else next.
Look, counting all goverment workers,Fed. on down to town, we have over 40 percent goverment workers,which only about 12 percent vote conservative(the last I read, which was a few years ago). Military,which isn't in that total(why) will vote conservative about 70 some percent. Union workers vot conservative about 25 percent. The way I see it the ones who look at it is my right, me first, as a group do not vote conservative, but conservative give more to charity(as I said report is a few years old).
It is education in our Christian faith that will bring change if change is to come.

Absolutely correct, Bob. I am one Republican who never cast a vote for Tom Ridge. I wish Dr. Bob Griffin would defend his position.

 

Howard Phillips is my vote. Among other things he sees how dangerous the Internation Court of Criminals is going to PROVE to be. I'm afraid Americans are more "rapped" up in their "music" their immoral movies, their running red lights and cussing at people for driving the speed limit than they are in what is going on around them. I'd be cynical but it's not worth it.

I wouldn't mind seeing President Bush re-elected or even seeing Colin Powell take the office. I think that both would do a great job.

Watts has an out-of-wedlock child, whose existance he tried to cover up.

Voters, in my experience, would forgive him for the first, but not the second. Especially, given his preaching on morality.

I realize that this poll has been around for a while, but I just noticed it. I cast my lot for Howard Phillips.

I saw the discussion concerning the Libertarian Party. I just want to comment that my impression of the Libertarians is that they are mostly a bunch of old hippies who are still crying because they can't legally smoke pot.

From Harry Brown's campaign site:

We really do need to regain our lost liberties which were sacrificed in the so-called "War on Drugs" but it would be crazy to legalize everything like I think he is suggesting. Maybe if we quit looking at drug users as victims and start considering them to be criminals, we could go after them and shut down the drug trade without having to worry about what other countries are doing to control the illegal export of drugs to the U.S.

I will look for that publication the next time I am at the mall. Have you decided who you want for governor yet? As for me, I would like to see Tim James win it, because he is the only candidate (Republican or Democrat) who is against rewriting the state constitution. The legislature shelved the rewrite debate until next year, and I think they did it to keep it from becomming a big campaign issue.

Just a word about Alabama’s constitution: It was designed to be a hindrance to localities which try to raise taxes. That’s why a locality has to get approval from the legislature to have a tax referendum. It is a good thing. Politicians, who want to raise taxes, hate the state constitution, because they can’t get new tax money to satisfy every little whim and desire they have. Without the constitution’s protection, the local officials, in some areas,will be able to raise taxes on their own, without a popular vote.

Have you ever noticed that in every tax referendum, the advocated tax is almost always touted as being “for the future of our children”? Really now, the best thing that we can
do for our children is keep their taxes down and maybe even do the unthinkable... repeal some taxes . Any tax that we approve will not go away, and by the time our children have children, the politicians will be wanting more taxes, and what for?... “ For the future of their children.”

Tim James has also pointed out that the people with gambling interests are the ones pushing for a constitution rewrite. Our state constitution is the only thing that has stood in their way so far.
