    Warning for car owners:
    ALERT: The mechanic you see working on a car in a parking lot may not be a mechanic at all....... but a thief:

    STORY HERE

    Main targets according to this and other similar articles are parking lots where several cars can be chosen. Especially vunerable are the "Park and Ride" or "Park and Go" lots for commuters.
    ====================
    Along the same lines of auto vandalism and theft is fuel stealing: Many think they are protected by getting a locking fuel cap: However, determined theives are finding ways around that....like the risky puncturing of the tank.

    Our church busses were all hit a few months ago. (Some other churches in the area, as well as other 'fleets' have been hit, as well.) Since then, we no longer leave any on the premises, but keep them spread out, at various driver's homes, and no more than one is at any site other than during church meetings, events, etc.. We have also had the numbers recorded and the converters are also "engraved" with our church identification.

    Might not totally prevent this, but will make it someone have to work a little harder at it.

    Back in the 60's I knew guys that could take a 4-speed transmission out of a new car, on the dealers lot in about 15 minutes.
