Couple can't have wedding in church because they are black

From what I've heard the congregation was split on the question. Though, the pastor did perform the wedding in another church building.
This is one of the stupidest things I have seen in a while. The church and the pastor should be ashamed of themselves. (smh)

So Black people can be members but something will suddenly go wrong if they get married in the Church?

What on earth is wrong with these people?:BangHead:

Again, this is crazy. If the Bride's dad is a member and they have been attending the church, why was there even a question to split?

This is shameful. Yet the pastor is taking the beating for something precipitated by five or six unknown people.

Adding him to my prayer list.

A principled Christian pastor would have stood against his racist congregation and married them there anyway.

He missed a golden opportunity to serve God instead of sinful man.

I would not remain as a part of such a church as that. Such bigotry among people claiming to be Christians, but who aren't living it, is inexcusable.

Another opportunity for the world to ridicule Baptists . . . and all Christians.

How can we reach the world for Christ if we demonstrate hatred for half of the world’s population?

This was a moment for a pastor to worry more about biblical fidelity than a cushy paycheck. While I sympathize with his struggle against significant (this isn't a power issue) members, the pastoral leadership moment was one where he should have stepped out and put away these members. Being fired would have been a medal of honor.

That said...the SBC should remove this church just like they removed Broadway Baptist in Ft Worth, though for different reasons.
