Cover-Up of Crime

A California congressman who called it an "impeachable" offense for the administration to offer Rep. Joe Sestak a job in exchange for his quitting a Senate bid said Sunday the cover-up, as usual, appears worse than the crime.

Republican Rep. Darrell Issa said the explanation for the Sestak affair -- that former President Bill Clinton offered the Democratic congressman an unpaid position on an advisory board if he would drop his challenge against party-switching Pennsylvania Sen. Arlen Specter -- is not plausible because as a sitting congressman Sestak couldn't have served on a presidential commission.

"It's a crime because they've admitted that they offered this position ... So that begs the real question. Do we believe this is a further cover-up because he's -- they're now talking about a job that President Clinton himself should have known Sestak couldn't take? " he said.

So the Whitehouse originally denied any offer was given to Sestak

I called the White House Press Office. I played the interview for the individual who answered the phone. She said someone would call me back. A few minutes later, another individual called. She said the White House would call back with a reaction “shortly.” That was 3:45 in the afternoon.

The report aired all night without a White House response.

At 6:45 the next morning, 15 hours later, a Deputy Press Secretary called. She said, “You can say the White House says it’s not true.”

A similar call was placed to the Inquirer’s Tom Fitzgerald. Tom was in the studio during the show taping. He was following Sestak around, working on a feature story. He took the story to page one of the Friday Inquirer.

A few days ago, both of us were still wondering why it took the White House 15 hours to issue a simple denial.

Now that they have admitted and it is now apparent they lied before they continue their lies by insisting that Sestak was offered a non paying board position and are now backing away from that.

The real problem here is that too many people have been conditioned to accept Obama's lies and excuses.

Too few expect anything else. Unfortunately there will be no outcry or real fallout over this. It's what people expect.

Bush would have been crucified over a story like this.

A crime to offer someone an unpaid public job?

To influence the outcome of an election by offering them something valuable. But there is a reasonable question as to the type of job that was offered as a sitting congressman cannot sit on an advisory board. Knowing that Clinton, who knows this as he was the one who signed this into law, knows this it is in very good doubt that this so called job was unpaid.

These types of deals are not unique to the current administration. It has been done forever. That doesn't bother me. What does bother me is that I voted for change, not for BAU.
