    Triune being. Man is the only spiritual being that is also physical. Other spiritual beings are here in the physical universe. Why is man the only creature made that respond to the physical and spiritual? Remember we are not physical forever but are spiritually

    I just started reading some Heiser, and he has some interesting thoughts on this matter, of what an imager is.

    Above is the best answer thus far. Marriage is the stamp of God's image on man.

    There are two words related to our creation : in the image of God after His likeness.

    Genesis 1:26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.

    Genesis 5:1 This is the book of the generations of Adam. In the day that God created man, in the likeness of God made he him;

    image - resemblence tselem צֶלֶם
    Likeness - like manner demuwth דְּמוּת

    Note Genesis 1:26 - "our" image, "our" likeness.

    IMO our greatest "image and likeness" qualities endued by God involve Intelligence. reasoning ability, communication ability and creativity especially in the realm of language.

    While some animals may have a primitive form of some of these traits they do not rise to the level of mankind.

    In the beginning was the Word.

    And God said...

    Come let us reason together saith the Lord...

    etc...

    Agreed, though I think "likeness" is used here as an appositive (for lack of a thinking of another term), a restatement of the idea of "image." Why? Because in the explanation of the doing of the thing that God said let us do, he only uses the word "image" (tselem). If God "made [man] in our image, after our likeness" he can also state it simply as "So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them." (IOW, without reusing the word likeness, see Genesis 1:27.)

    What do you think of these qualities in angels, who, as far as I know, are never said to be created "in the image of God"?
