Hehe....nope, sorry.

One's opinion of DTS depends a lot upon what btheir theological background is. Non-dispensationalists would say it isn't that great because it propagates dispensationalism and non-Lordship salvation theologies.

I would not attend DTS, nor would I recommend that anyone else do. But I do recognize they have strengths (langage studies, they are conservative) and so I would not say it is a "bad joke". I think dispensationalism is a bad error and since DTS is strongly dispy, I would not say it is a "good school".

Sorry for my rambling.

I agree with Preach - DTS is a great school, I have had many friends and a couple past pastors from DTS. Theologically they are very sound, and they stress the languages. The weakness I would see from them is that they spend so much time in academics and not as much in the everyday how to be a pastor - relationships etc

The dispensationalism aside, it is very sound academically.

The down side for me is that at great deal of their graduates tend to think of themselves as somehow "better" than other pastors for having gone to DTS.

Well, they give a 4-year Th.M. instead of a 3-year M.Div. They stress biblical languages and solid expository preaching. And they don't require students to be dispensational or Calvinist to graduate. I'd say good school overall.

Though I personally would go there for a post-grad S.T.M., D.Min. or Ph.D.

Personally, on the scale of a good school
or a bad joke  , I would place it close to the far right.

Thank you for your comments.

For what is, DTS is a good school. As it has been noted above, the school does have certain presupositions that certain folks won't agree with. But then, if I had a choice between Westminister and Dallas, I'd take Dallas. DTS has too strong a reputation for its academic rigor to be termed a "bad joke". Regretfully, it would seem that only a school that scrupulously follows the sages of Princeton (before the flood of modernism) is to be considered acceptable.

Amen!

Just kidding...mostly. :D

Everyone knows that only a school that scrupulously follows Broadus, Boyce, and Whitsitt is to be considered acceptable. :D
