After my debate with Tysixius finishes I'd like to debate a theist on the
issue of debt. I doubt a Atheist or a Agnostic can debate me on this one,
since the debate scope in this one seems more Theist related. No we are not
debating theology here, but we are debating doctrine.

There is a faction of Christians (mostly King James Only Fundamentalists)
that believe its a sin to be or go into debt. Some of these people are
pastors and in authority positions. Based on my own exegetical studies of
the bible I think these people have misinterpreted the scriptures. However
it would make sense from a King James only fundamentalists worldview why
they would hold to such a position.

Rom 13:8 KJV Owe no man any thing, but to love one another: for he that
loveth another hath fulfilled the law.

On the contrary the NIV says to not let any debt remain outstanding
which implies that one must pay on their debts, but this does not mean that
    one cannot take on debts.

I myself am a Fundamentalist but not a King James Only Fundamentalist and
think this debate would be best between myself and another Fundamentalist.
However if there are evangelicals or Pentecostal Charismatics here that do
not believe in debt, then I will gladly welcome the challenge.

God bless and I look forward to this.

This is All Other Discussions, where would you suggest it be posted

I cannot debate this with you as I have much debt that others would find ungodly and myself thinking of bankruptcy

God Bless and I hope you find the discussion you are looking for :flower:

    Dude

I think you might want to figure out 'why' you want to debate this? If you are open minded and you are shown that you need to get out of debt - CAN YOU?

I think your time might be put to better use. IMHO.

I haven't heard dude in toooo long. Dude.

    God bless

    Other Christian Denominations
    Debate other denominations' doctrines/beliefs here.

Maybe the Mods can move it for you instead of starting another thread

I would like to debate someone to 'lend' me some money the way the Jesus says to do it.

    Luke 6:34-35
34 And if ye lend to them of whom ye hope to receive, what thank have ye? for sinners also lend to sinners, to receive as much again.
35 But love ye your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again; and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be the children of the Highest: for he is kind unto the unthankful and to the evil.

Anyone have a cool million they can 'lend' me?

It amazes me that the Atheists and the Agnostics are better at debating than the people here.

But nevertheless if they refuse it means that I won.

I also have much debt. Not saying its good, but I argue that the bible only forbids not paying debts. It does not forbid taking on debts as some will teach.

    NASB
    15but [a]sanctify (A)Christ as Lord in your hearts, always being ready (B)to make a defense to everyone who asks you to give an account for the (C)hope that is in you, yet (D)with gentleness and (E)reverence;

The Atheists and Agnostics (in my experience on both Usenet and iidb.org) alre always ready to defend their religion and eveyr debate opponent has been one of them.

I think fiscal mismanagement is irresponsible, but hardly a basic biblical topic whether KJV or any other version.

Certainly there is a life principle involved. If we over indulge in spending more than we earn, eventually it catches up. One needs to sit with a financial counsellor, not a spiritual guide.

I don't think there is any debate in this. We can quote scripture until we are blue in the face, and it won't change the picture one iota.

God is faithful and just and He even supports idiots by times. He even supported me when I made bad choices.

    Cheers,

    Jim

If I was not open minded I would not want to debate right? I would refuse since I know it all.

Are you saying that taking on of debts that you know you cant pay back is a Godly principle? Maybe it doesnt say it in black and white that we shouldnt, but the spirit of the law is there, and if you are as prepared to debate as you claim, you should know that, too.
Why is it so important that someone from this board debate you?

That is not true, in my opinion. Just because no one here will seem to take your bait that you generally offer in your posts, doesn't mean that the people here don't and won't debate.

Do a search in the forums and you will see it for yourself:

    People on BB will debate.

People on BB will not will respond when the sole purpose is for them to take the bait of the OP.

I don't think that is how the rules of that forum work. Since you posted in the Formal Debate Proposals forum, and the challenge wasn't accepted, then there is no debate to win.
