I take it we may disagree on OSAS?
Yes, my "booties" get dirty walking through this world, but I have been washed clean by the blood and only my feet get dirty which are easily cleaned by confession and forgiveness.

Jhn 13:10 Jesus said to him, "He who is bathed needs only to wash his feet, but is completely clean; and you are clean, but not all of you."

    Thank you for the compliment!

I talk eschatology cause I read a book or two. I think that the best book ever written by LaHaye is HOW TO STUDY THE BIBLE FOR YOURSELF. I've had two different verstions of his book. Much better than the LEFT BEHIND series or any of LaHaye's other works. I even got into a Master's Degrre Progam where one gets to pick one's own 'subject'. I read a lot about what people thought would happen in the future (called 'futurist's) -- one can't study the future, cause there is no future yet to study. God is not so limited!

Anyway, I'm secure in my salvation, I know God will take care of me. The details probably won't matter to me anyway. So eschatology is interesting to me.

BTW, we love meals featuring either 'Tom's or 'Butler's :) Both cannot be ignored.

Tim---dude---don't you have anything better to do with your time than opening a discussion on debate??? Like---

--going outside and mowing the grass,

    --take out the trash,

    --wash the car,

    --wash the dog,

--air up the tires on the bicycle,

    --paint the house,

--pressure wash the driveway, patio, and walkways

    Your Southern Baptist preaching friend,

    Blackbird

PS---does the "wifey" know you don't have nothin' to do other than debate on whether or not to debate?????

    Faith:
    Non Baptist Christian
Threads I seem to consistently pop up in are ones about:

    the emerging church
    ecumenicalism
    health care
    science: evolution, global warming
    muslims
    catholics
    church history
    rick warren

They tend to be threads where I feel a person or concept is being unfairly misrepresented. They also tend to be threads where statements or bible verses appear to be taken out of their context.

I avoid reading threads about C/A and eschatology.

I wonder what would happen to "debate" if our passion in so doing was sincere love for the brethren?

Then iron will sharpen iron in a real sense, everyone will be able to learn from everyone, and the board will be a place everyone wants to return to.
The problem is that there are those who say they are founded and deeply rooted in the Word, do not condemn others, and proceed to insinuate on the spiritual state of whomever they are debating with.
Like one poster in one thread right now who seems to think that if one is Calvinistic and have liberal doctrines, one does not mind how one lives.
I have no problem with one having liberal doctrines not minding one's living but is that true only with those who have Calvinistic doctrines ?
There are posters and "debaters" here who cannot seem to put their bigotry under the control of Christ.

And to think that it was his posts that I look for as well as the rest of ya'll that Rubato looks for. I am deeply humbled. May Christ continue to use us as we study together. :type:

We are not debating now. You cannot show me from scripture how we are debating now.
