OOPS!!! That made it sound like I wouldn't want to have dinner with Obama (not to mention that I'm not "rationally-thinking"! ), so I'd better clarify!

I'd LOVE to have dinner with Obama. I would love to know if the man who delivers such fabulously inspiring speeches with such zeal and persuasion is REALLY 'that man'. Not that I necessarily doubt that he is--I'd just love the chance to talk to him to know for sure. I'd still have to figure out how to deal with his stance on so many issues that are important to me--but it would be incredible to learn that he really IS all that.

His comment kind of reminds me of that skit on the Dave Chapelle show, the one where Chapelle was the guy promoting the KKK...

As someone who has particular insight into his brand of atypical whiteness, the comments were most certainly denigrating. I feel very sorry for him.

You haved illustrated my point.....my heritage is not African, or Irish, or anything except American.

I am 100% American, and I wish that Obama was, but he has made it clear that he isnt. He is African first and forefost.......maybe he should run for president of South Africa or Nigeria or whatever, because he doesnt represent me or any other true American by what he is saying now.

Yes, my heritage is important to me....

I am American by birth, and Southern by the Grace Of God.

    No more, no less......

    AMERICAN!!!!!!!

It was not meant to be used as a credible source just a paradoxical example. If you have actually seen the skit you would know what I am talking about. Just think ironic, satirical, sarcastic, or tongue-in-cheek and you will have the right idea.

Why is Obama not 100% American? Please enlighten me with your ever so insightful discourse on the notion. I am a true American and he represents me just fine thank you. (Oh, and for the record his paternal family origin is Kenyan)

I agree with AJ. His church's own mission statement requires a 100% mandatory committment to Africa first.

Good enough for me. I don't like looking for nuances, especially when the attitude of the head professor at Hate Whitey University is so well documented.

I'm 100% American, and Obama does not speak for me.

Obama is still an American. You are 100% American, yet you don't speak for me or for others you disagree with.

Interesting point. They say that Bill Clinton (great with crowds) was not good one on one. They say that W, who is not a gifted speaker, is remarkably charming and persuasive one-on-one. So what you see in one setting may be opposite in another. Some of the one-on-one debates with Obama and some interviews where he has extended convos with people make Obama seem a little stiff. It would indeed be interesting.

I said I'd eat a meal with him. He is PAYING, isn't he?

From an email I received from the Senator Obama campaign:

"On Monday, at 11:44 am, Bonnie Locchetta of Rushville, Indiana made her first donation of $25.

I'm pleased to announce that Bonnie will be one of my dinner guests. Here's what she told us about herself:
"I come from an incredibly Republican county in a little tiny town.

I've always been the rebel in my family. I had a fantastic government teacher in high school who really opened my eyes to a lot of things. I haven't always voted Democratic, but I wanted to vote for someone who spoke to me personally.

Now my kids are doing well in school, but I'm praying for scholarships. I have no savings, and I don't know how I'm going to put them through college.

I have never contributed to a political candidate before, but I have started an organizing group in my very Republican county. My children are very active in their support, and I will do all I can to show my neighbors that together, YES WE CAN." "

So, this is just another campaign gimmick turned photo-op? Thought so.

Who did you think he was going to invite? Dittoheads?

(An aside: It is really an interesting feeling typing with my left hand after practicing guitar as I rebuild the callouses I lost after having to lay off after rotator cuff surgery. :))
