Recent discussions have inspired this poll.

When I was born, was I born with the capacity to live a life of complete obedience to the will of God? Did I just blow it because of temptation, or was it an inescapable destiny?

Romans 3: 23 says, "For all HAVE sinned and come short of the glory of God."

In the eyes of God we have already sinned--even before we commit that first act of sin! So it is impossible to live beyond the realm of sin.

I Believe that seperation from God is sin. and
We were born seperated and have been ever since.

    Just plain existing is sin....

    (IMHO)

First of all, nothing is spelled "right," it is spelled correctly. If you're going to upbraid me, do it with an air of propriety. ;)

Second, don't assume that a typo is a sign of disrespect.

I do believe that a saved person has the capacity to become perfect.
Maybe that explains some missing persons cases!
And Adam, respect your elders BOY! ;)

Rom 3:23 "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God"

I take this to mean all people, Past, Present and Future. If we could be completely sinless which is neccesary to come into the prescence of God, God would not have sent Jesus Christ to us so that we might find a covering for sin and be accepted into the Prescence of the Father.

We are all sinners yet Jesus Christ has paid this penalty and given us life.

    Oh. Okay.

Don't automatically assume that a typo is a sign of indecency then. ;)

BTW. These emoticons I'm using, eg: ;) [IMG] [IMG] , are a way of showing that I meant a good-natured ribbing. Don't you remember the line from Monsters Inc. When Mike Wazowski was strapped to the scream extractor, and Randall called him a miserable cretin? Only He pronounced it "krehtuhn."
And you missed the sarcasm in Gina's post, who also missed the intent of mine. She wasn't getting on to you. She was making fun of me.

Anyway. You know my views on CCM. I make no apologies for my use of Audio Adrenaline. I can respect the individuals as persons, but I'm not required to, and in fact do not, respect their methods. :D

ROFL! Man, you guys are sensitive! Thought that was a girl-thing! (ok, now that WAS for both of you)
Was teasing Adam, wasn't even thinking of Aaron.
Whatever the case, my answer remains the same...people cannot NEVER sin, it is their nature, but after the new birth they can.

Once I thought I was perfect. Then, I proceeded to pat my self on the back for this achievment and I heard the voice of God,,,,,,,,"A little lower, my child, slap a little lower...."

Sinless perfection is a goal and will be achieved in the presence of Perfection. For the moment, I am still in the race.

    Cheers,

    Jim

No, men do not have the capacity to live without sin,(Rom. chapter 7) primarily because we are in these physical bodies (Gen.2:16-17). That sin is an element of fallen human nature, which is manifested through the physical body. This accounts for the 2 elements in the Lord's supper. Note, the bread of which He said "this is my body which is broken for you", thus His body is also representative of the Law.( Heb. 9:25-10:18) This accounts for Jesus taking on a physical body like ours, and then having to live, suffer, and eventually die in it. That when we are resurrected in His time, then we will have a body like His,(I Cor. ch. 15, II Thess. 2:1-2) and we will then be without sin. Until then, we will be plagued by a sinful nature, although this is the reason we have a High Priest before God, namely Christ Jesus, in order that He confesses to God our inadequacies (Heb.9:11-14) in our behalf. That the death and resurrection of the Lord Jesus is the promise of God to us to enable us to do the same. The command of our Lord was to be perfected in unity, not strive to be perfected in supposed (self-serving) "sinlessness" (John 17:20-23).

    No. Rom. 3:23; Rom. 5:12; 1 Jn. 1:9.

The belief that an individual can live without sin is an ancient heresy known as Pelagianism. It has been condemned by more church councils than any other belief system in the history of the Church.

Ya know, that's just not at all the first time I threw out a thought and the word Pelagian came back at me!
Gonna have to look into that. LOL

I'm glad to see that 85% of professing Baptists believe in the total depravity of man. That is encouraging.

[IMG] Sure, blame the woman, it started with Adam...and hasn't stopped yet. You all know that God created this scenario don't you? It wasn't outside of his control to make man unable to sin.

To the answer of this thread topic...do men have the capacity to live sinless lives? NO

Thank you for making me laugh...that's a rare blessing. [IMG] [IMG]

We try to live sinless lives, but somehow the closer I get to Christ, the more I realize that I need Him. When I clean up one aspect of my life, I see more dirt in the corner. A sinless life after salvation is not possible on "this" earth.

  20. I agree with deacon, a man nor a woman has the capacity not to sin. We are born sinners. When we get saved the Holy Ghost indwells us to help us not sin but we still do. God provides ways of escape but we still sin. God gives us more grace but we still sin. Man nor worman will not quit sinning until we have our glorified bodies. One will not grow into perfection in this world.
