If I don't want to be considered apostate to you, which of the following doctrines do I need to confess?

    1. I believe in God the Father, Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth:

    2. And in Jesus Christ, his only begotten Son, our Lord:

    3. Who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary:

    4. Suffered under Pontius Pilate; was crucified, dead and buried: He descended into hell:

    5. The third day he rose again from the dead:

    6. He ascended into heaven, and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty:

    7. From thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead:

    8. I believe in the Holy Ghost:

    9. I believe in the holy catholic church: the communion of saints:

    10. The forgiveness of sins:

1l. The resurrection of the body:

    12. And the life everlasting. Amen.

Just a note: there is a large difference between being apostate and being wrong.

I think all Christians are wrong in at least one area, but they don't have to be apostate.

Apostate is another one of those words that Christians throw at each like the word heretic. Many have never taken the time to see what it really means.

Thinking this over I forgot to add a few.

    -KJVO
    -No associating/cooperating with apostates
    -Clear judgement of non-Christians

Oh well, maybe we'll do this again sometime later.

    2. Calling "seminary": "cemetery"
    3. Jerry Falwell sold out to the Devil
    4. woman, kneel before your man
    5. Jews killed Christ

Someone actually voted that dancing makes one an apostate?

Being apostate is, I thought, turning away from the faith and denying essentials, and I think you only had a few essentials listed.

It was real clear some Calvinists voted! [IMG]

Okay, you Calvinists, don't get mad at me! :D

The number of folks who selected Soul Liberty surprised me. It seems like a contradiction of Soul Liberty to call apostate someone who doesn't believe in Soul Liberty.

True, but most lack the ability to discern between the two. Every single church is guilty to some degree of being apostate and/or being wrong. Baptists included. I don't let these conditions interfere with me simply living my faith to the best of my imerfect human ability.

Interesting how few understand that failure to believe in the inerrancy of Scripture and believing in evolution were two of the factors that led mainline Protestants down the road of theological liberalism in the early 1900s. Yes, I know there were other factors such as higher criticism, historicism and positivism that factor in, but the result was belief in the fallibility of the Bible and evolution.

Are we headed down that road again?

I believe that for most folks, even if they didn't select an option as a doctrine confessed by a non-apostate, they still believed that doctrine themselves.

For instance, a person may believe in Creationism that is non-evolutionary, but not consider someone who believes in evolution to be apostate. In that case, they would leave the box unchecked. That doesn't mean they believe in evolution themselves.
