LOL. I just realized go2church said the wording was vague, so he had to vote that we CLEARLY hated the poor.

    LOL

What a load of cow dung.

Tom, I agree with you. I have a few friends who are far left liberals and they have ask me many times over the years, how can you bring those people into your home to live. Well they needed a place to live and I could help, so I helped as many Christians do every day. They seem to think everyone should look to the government and I believe we should look to God then friend and family then the church. It seem to work that way when my parents and my brother and I were kids.

At the founding of his country it was legal to own another human being, so glad we have evolved ( another liberal word for you)

So now you now you think there is a role? You said there shouldn't be any help earlier, which is it?

There is room for improvement, lots of room, in the current policies, that's a worthy discussion, ending all government help completely is not.

I am used to people who run out of intelligent arguments, and have to assign motive. You are quite hateful. But you remind me more of chicken dung, and yes, I am familiar with that.

What do expect from people today Bro? People who rely on a fascist form of big government to keep them safe will never understand how that same fascist form of big government creates poverty.

If you love a corporatist big government you hate the poor by loving them into more poverty.

I'm not the one calling people dung. Perhaps your too familiar? Name calling is childish and reflects the lack of maturity needed to have a conversation of any substance.

I'm not advocating for large fascist government, but reasonable help to citizens in need. I'm not in agreement with all the current policies, but that doesn't mean I want to toss out the proverbial baby with the bath water.

The government does a lot of "stuff" that is not their job to do. And if they stopped doing it, people might actually learn to work out their own problems instead of relying on Uncle Sam for everything.

Which of the perks that the government gives you are you willing to give up?

    Examples:

If you eat bread, the grain has been subsidized and your price is lower.
If you use sugar, that has been subsidized and your price is lower.
[These two are not really much different than food stamps, we just do not often think about them.]

If you have a mortgage your can deduct the interest, thus lowing your tax.
You can deduct donations to churches and charities, thus your expense is lowered.

This is just four aspect of the dole we all are using in one way or another. As I said, all of us are living on the dole in one way or another. Which are you willing to give up?

All of them. There's not one we couldn't live without- or wouldn't be better off without.

How much do you believe your cost of living would go up if ALL were eliminated ... including building and repairing roads and bridges? Just curious.

I think Vance Havner might have had it correct when he said,"If they had a social gospel in the days of the prodigal son, somebody would have given him a bed and a sandwich and he never would have gone home." Now so many look to the government rather than family, friends or church. The government has become god to so many.
Maybe Leonard Ravenhill has it correct,"The Church used to be a lifeboat rescuing the perishing. Now she is a cruise ship recruiting the promising."
Maybe we need to get to work in our town and help the people.

Exactly. It is NOT the Government's responsibility to do those things.

Now you are trying to mix apples and oranges.

It IS the government's job to do those things that benefit the public good such as roads and bridges. It is not their responsibility to seek to enhance the life of every private individual by giving them a chicken in every pot, an unearned support check (for those who REFUSE to work) as welfare does in most cases, or health care (while lining the pockets of the politicians of their friends as Obamacare seeks to do).

He knows that he just doesn't care. What he does care about is that the rich become as equally poor as anyone else. This whole deal is about income redistribution and that is what he wants. The poor are just pawns in the political game. It is their excuse.

So you are for perks ... the dole ... for some, but not for those you do not like. Interesting.

Why should you get a tax break on your mortgage interest, subsidizes to make your food cheaper, but not food stamps, even for the working poor. It is hypocritical to say in one post that all should be done away with and then turn around and say it is the governments job to do some things that benefit you.

Admit it. You want perks for yourself, but not for those that, for whatever reason, you do not like.

Rev. and being clergy you get perks, a whole bunch of perks, or dole, that is not available to others. Is that income redistribution by allowing your to use tax breaks not available to others? You are more on the dole than almost any tax paying American. I bet you never thought of breaks as being on the dole, but it is ... just more hidden.

Farmers also have many perks that others do not have. My brother is a farmer and using these perks, tax breaks, he has never paid any income tax. Is that fair to others?
