Barney: Oh, a dog can't get struck by lightning. You know why? Because he's too close to the ground. See, lightning strikes tall things. Now if they were giraffes out there, then we'd be in trouble. You sure don't have to worry about dogs.

==Great episode! [IMG] I love the Andy Griffith Show. I have the first four seasons on dvd. They don't make good tv like that any more. I long for the return of shows like The Andy Griffith Show, I Love Lucy, The Dick Van Dyke Show, and so many other good family shows. You are right the world has lost a truly funny man.

Yes Don Knotts was very funny and he didn't have to be profane at doing his humor. Not many actors or comics today could pull off the kind of humor that Mr. Knotts was so good at.
    I'm gonna miss him.

I was very sad to hear that earlier today. I spent a lot of time as a child watching Don and the Andy Griffith show with my father. He was a very funny.

And the article didn't even MENTION The Apple Dumpling Gang...

He was in a class by himself. I do hope he was a believer.

It is rare that an actor's death really seems like a great loss to me...but with Don Knotts, i think it is.
Who in the last 40-50 years has not had their lives touched by this man's sense of humor? He will be missed.

So sorry to hear about Don Knotts.

My favorite Andy Griffith episode was the one about Barney joining the choir. So funny! My dad and I laughed until we cried when we saw that show!

Hope we will see him in Heaven.

There once was a deputy named Fife
Who owned both a gun and a knife
    His knife was all dusty
And his gun was all rusty
Cuz he never caught a crook in his life.

The article refers to his stint on Search for Tomorrow, an old soap opera, when they were done live in those early days of television, and quotes him as saying, "That's the only serious thing I've done." I remember in a book about him and Andy Griffith, it told of his part on that soap, that he was a neurotic (as if they all aren't on soap operas) who would speak to only one person, his sister. He was in a scene with another character (and not his sister) who couldn't think of his line, and that actor stammered and said, "Oh *&%$, what's the line?". A prompter tried to whisper it to him, but he couldn't hear and said "What?!" Then Knotts, thinking he must have misunderstood and they were running another rehearsal before the live action, said "Oh, we're not on the air?" [IMG]

That ought to clench it... everything he did was funny. He will be missed.

I loved to watch the show. As Barney Fife would say, 'It's Therapetic'.

We have all 269 episodes, the pilot, the movie, and all the reunions on tape and the first 5 seasons on DVD.

Big hit in our house, we just call them "Andies".

    Good ole Barn.

My favorite character on TAGS would have to be either Ernest T. Bass (he's a nut), or Malcolm Merriweather, the english valet.

Would love to know how Malcolm made that ladder out of newspaper for Opie.
