Trump lied about Carrier and the tax payers pays and Carrier benefits.

Jones, president of the United Steelworkers Local 1999, told The Post on Tuesday that he believed Trump had lied to the Carrier workers last week when he visited the Indianapolis plant. On a makeshift stage in a conference room, Trump had applauded United Technologies, Carrier’s parent company, for cutting a deal with him and agreeing to keep 1,100 jobs that were slated to move to Mexico in America’s heartland.

Jones said Trump got that figure wrong.

Carrier, he said, had agreed to preserve 800 production jobs in Indiana. (Carrier confirmed that number.) The union leader said Trump appeared to be taking credit for rescuing 350 engineering positions that were never scheduled to leave. Five hundred and fifty of his members, he said, were still losing their jobs. And the company was still collecting millions of dollars in tax breaks.

In return for downsizing its move south of the border, United Technologies would receive $7 million in tax credits from Indiana, to be paid in$700,000 installmentseach year for 10. Carrier, on top of that, has agreed to invest $16 million in its Indiana operation. United Technologies, meanwhile, still plans to shuttle 700 factory jobs from Huntington, Ind., to Monterrey, Mexico.

Jones, who said the union wasn't involved in the negotiations, said he's working to lift his members' spirits. He said he didn't have time to worry about Trump.

Trump lies and gets his numbers wrong. At this point, knowing this man, is this considered newsworthy anymore? It's a daily occurrence. I think it's probably time to join me and try to ignore what he says and instead, see what he does and comment on that.

For example, the story in this instance isn't the number of jobs saved. The story, and the criticism, is that the government negotiated a deal with an individual company, showing favoritism to achieve a political objective.

Take the Boeing Air Force One story. Trump says he wants to cancel that contract because at $4 billion it's too costly. Turns out Trump is wrong about the numbers. It's not $4 billion to build one plane. It's $170 million for the plane, they are building two of them, and yes, the total cost will be $4 billion which includes building, operating and maintaining the two planes for 10 years.

Do you really think he's going to deny himself a brand new plane? More likely he will suggest changes to the design and then claim he improved the plane and wrung out cost savings to boot.

One thing that should bother everyone is the President-elect of the United States insulting a local union leader. He's got to stop this and act more presidential.

Trump probably will not be in office when the plane is completed, tested and released for presidential use.

Also, how many jobs would be lost in Seattle is the contract is killed. I doubt he can kill the contract without help from various agencies. I imagine the 4 Republican House of Representatives and the other representatives and senators from Washington just might have a few words on this topic. upload_2016-12-8_12-14-39.png
