CNN just reported Jerry Falwell has died...

He is experiencing "joy unspeakable and full of glory" right now.

Prayers for his family and all who were close to him.

I disagreed with much that he said, but there can be no doubt he loved his lord, Jesus Christ, and is safely home with him for eternity.

This is a very sad day for me. I held Dr. Falwell in very high esteem. I will be praying for his family, for Thomas Road Baptist Church, and for Liberty University....

He wasn't a perfect man, and I didn't agree with everything he said, but NO ONE in the Church in the nation did more in recent decades to reawaken Christians to their rights AND repsonsibilities as citizens of the United States. Thank God for him.

While I disagree with much of Dr Falwell's emphasis on politics I thank God for his years of faithful service and dedication to our Lord's work.

It's a rare bird who will claim to agree with Jerry about everything, but I do respect and appreciate his efforts to lead people to Christ. May God bless and comfort his family. Amen.

As has already been said, I do not agree with his emphasis on politics, but I would like to say that Dr. Falwell never wavered in being a witness for the Lord Jesus Christ. Even when put on the spot on national TV he would always smile, tell them that Jesus loved them and gave his life for them, and that he was their only hope for eternal life. In a day when some of our "leading evangelicals" are waivering under the spotlight when it comes to the truth of the exclusivity of the gospel...Dr. Falwell never did! Praise God!

I would have to agree that he did mix the Gospel with politics more often than i would have liked...but he was a champion for what is morally right in our country and he will be missed.
He was also a champion for evangelism and help jumpstart our churches back into doing that in the 70's when it seemed like a dying art.
    He will be missed.

I too must join the majority here in stating that, while not perfect (after all, there has been only One perfect man that ever walked this planet), I do feel that he stood faithful to the Lord Jesus and spoke against immorality pervading society.

Out of curiousity, i went to the democratic underground website to see how much celebrating they were doing...and it nearly made me sick. I cannot believe the evil things being posted there; i nearly lost my lunch.
Apparently we need to be praying for more than Jerry Falwell's family and church right now.

If that is true, which I do not doubt, well so much for tolerance. :tonofbricks: Thats just about as bad as those so called baptists who protest at funerals for our gallant servicemen who have given their lives.:tear:

Definitely, much to pray about: His family, friends, church, school, ministry......and for others to step up and fill the gap: And to reflect on the warnings he gave, the seriousness of Christians being active citizens or bystanders, and that the people of our nation will repent. RIP Brother Falwell.
