The issue is what was the scriptural intent of using "monogenes." Answer: Unique or one of a kind. Full Stop

Jesus could still be a created being under that, but begotten refers to Him being eternal!

Yet another regurgitation of the falsehood, begotten claimed to mean not begotten. Y1 simply fills thread after thread with posts calculated to end actual discussion. The bogus support for Jesus not being eternal is found in claiming monogenes means begotten.

Utter falsehood, the opposite of what the dictionary and lexicons say. Actual meaning "cause to exist." Since God is the uncaused cause, the use of the word for any Person of the Trinity is as bogus as a three dollar bill.

Begotten doesn't mean anything in Greek. In English it's the past participle of beget. As in "Abraham begat Isaac," Matthew 1:2a, KJV.

In English, it getting to be a rather archaic word. I doubt any of us ever here it outside of biblical and theological discussions.

But go ahead and show me an English dictionary entry where begotten means eternally existing and/or never created.

Unless John wrote one of the creeds, how is that even germane?

Eternally begotten of the father, as Jesus is the very Word of the father made flesh, eh?

How so, is not Jesus eternally the Word of the Father who became a Man?

He was always the Word. Always with God. That He was God [YHWH] never began or ceased. Was always the Son. Being YHWH never begotten to become the Son.

5 So also Christ glorified not himself to be made an high priest; but he that said unto him, Thou art my Son, to day have I begotten thee

Begotten means no such thing. If you want to make use of the word begotten some sort of litmus test in translation, you're free to do so, but it's ridiculous to claim beget has that meaning.

No litmus test, just saying one can use either Only begotten or unique!

Monogenes never means begotten. And begotten never means "eternally existing."

Returning to Hebrews 5:5 and "today I have begotten you." As the Christ, the Anointed One, Jesus held two high offices, both King and Priest. By placing Jesus into those offices, the Father engendered Jesus, i.e. the Father caused Jesus to be our mediator, or High Priest.

I disagree. I believe the word (gegennEka) is being used metaphorically and refers to making (engendering) Christ as "High Priest." Note Hebrews 5:10 where God "names" "calls" "designates" or "declares" Christ as High Priest.

Your appearent denial of the role His bodily resurrection plays in Him being our High Priest is problematic.
