Drinking Alcohol

Of course I drink coffee - I grew up Baptist. However, coffee is in the morning at the office or at church, but not outside in the afternoon at the beach or pool. [And yes, don't understand how ale can be warm - yuch!]

 

Nor do I, but simply because I've never tried ale of any kind at any temperature! (See my post 15).

 

Like WebDog I have a couple of beers while watching the local sports teams in action (Twins, Vikings.)

The fact is that God will serve us strong wine at the marriage supper of the Lamb (Isaiah 25:6); God asked for drink offerings of beer and strong wine (Numbers 15:5,7), (Numbers 28:7). Proverbs tells us to give strong drink to those that are sad or depressed (Proverbs 31:6-7.)

So this idea that drinking alcohol is prohibited by God is not true. As others have stated the sin is in getting drunk. There is such a thing as drinking alcohol in moderation--it's in the Bible.

 

I don't think it is a question of right or wrong to consume alcohol, but the damage alcohol has caused in society, especially traffic deaths and abuse of women. For these reasons, I absolutely abhor alcohol for any purpose.

I love the taste of an ice cold-beer. A European Lager, or Pilsner, to be specific. I recently lost 50 pounds, and studied how different beers are brewed, and learned Ales come off the bottom of the tank, (where the thick, wheaty sediment is) while Lagers come off the top (and are much clearer, & lighter).

I noticed how Dos Equis, from Mexico tasted so Bavarian, and found out about the German migration to Mexico in the 19th century, so I learned a little history, as well.

Split a six-pack of Spaten with my brother, upon his retirement from the Navy about three weeks ago. Good stuff, that Spaten.

 

I never knew so many Baptists drank alcohol! LOL... where have I been all these years! Anyways, I had a family member who was an alcoholic so I've personally experienced the affects of the immoderate use alcohol. Until recently I've only tasted alcoholic beverages. I haven't tasted anything that is appealing in the least bit. I can't stand coffee either... I do like sweet Texas tea though!

 

I suppose then you can guess how seriously I would take their theology!!!!!

More importantly....how did you loose the 50? I need to do that as well.:thumbs:

 

I took on a whole different attitude towards being hungry. I ate a lot of fruit, drank a lot of water, gave up all manner of desert foods, ice cream, cake, cookies, sugar ceral, and most breads. It took about 13 months. After getting down to 173, I gained back about 7 pounds, and am at the weight I was when I graduated Boot Camp.

And keeping the basic diet, with a lot of water, and no sugars, I can enjoy a chicken-fried steak with red gravy & a mashed potato, every now & again. Even wash it down with a frosty mug full of Harps Lager.

 

Thanks....gotta lay off the bread....my particular downfall.:love2:

 

Recently enjoying Blue Moon Pale Ale (hint of orange) and Sea Dog Blue Paw (which has a hint of blueberry). Both are very good.
