Edwards Avoids Affair in First Speech Since Scandal

"... Edwards said wanted to continue working for poor people struggling to survive in America and abroad, whether he remains in politics or not."That's what I want to spend my life doing," he said."

Here we have another wannabe philanthropist with other people's money.

How about they use their own money and let the rest of decide what we want to do?

How about they concentrate of representing the people - all of them - instead of engaging in personal crusades?

    Remember the Davy Crockett legend!

Nothing. There is just something wrong with being a hypocrite, and there is just something wrong with wanting to use the tax payer's money to help people when you have millions and are not using a significant portion of your own money to help people (which is being a hypocrite also).

Do you know anyone who is not a hypocrite in one area of their life or another?

Maybe he should help his dying wife he cheated on.

Furthermore, someone who will lie to the world about an affair (still ongoing), a baby, a buyout of the mistress, and a shameful treatment of his cancer-stricken wife doesn't deserve to put his grubby hands on one dime of my money.

I'll help the poor myself...but I'm not handing it to charlatans. They just help themselves.

What that got to do with Edwards being a washed up politician because he demonstrated that he can't be trusted by cheating on his wife while she fought cancer? Or for that matter what does that have to do with pointing out the Edwards in typical liberal politician fashion is willing to be generous with taxpayer's money but not his own?

The OP is about his wanting to help people, not his political career. So, what is wrong with his wanting to help people?

Nothing...but his behavior shows that he is not to be trusted very much.

If he'll forsake vows, pay hush money to mistress, and lie to everyone, what keeps him from pocketing/benefitting from money he says is "for the poor."

Read up on the Davy Crockett legend.

In the mean time send me all your cash and I'll go help someone with it. There's nothing wrong with that is there?

What money he says for the poor is he pocketing? BTW Newt Gingrich also dumped his dying wife and when McCain came back from Viet Nam to find his wife sick and looking much older he dumped her for a good looking woman years younger who also happened to be very wealthy. What's the difference in these three stories?

Is it even POSSIBLE for you to stay on topic for even one thread?

I realize you hate republicans with all your heart. We ALL do.

Now, give it a rest, already, and stay on topic!!!

Yikes! I meant we all are completely cognizant of BB's immense hatred of Bush and all things Republican.
Consider this my edit of the post above...

Just like Newt Gingrich stood beside Jackie, right?
Were you as outraged when you heard that story? Or is this only reprehensible when it involves a Democrat?

Seems to me that John Edwards is more apologetic that Gingrich was, and the last I heard, the Edwards were staying together.

Also, "hate" is your word, so be careful when you assign it to someone who hasn't used it even once in this discussion, especially in light of your zeal about staying on topic.......

    Regards anyway,
    BiR

There's all manner of corruption - personal and public - among politicians just as there is among the people they represent.

Back to the point which was that this
wannabe philanthropist's goal in politics is to spend other people's money to help the "poor". I'm sick of politicians who use that line on suckers who keep voting for them. They don't [edited by mod] care about the "poor". They care about the power of gathering up our money and giving out to others in exchange for votes and more power. When will we wise up to this?
