Fox News obliterated its cable news competition during Tuesday night's election coverage, and did so by humiliating margins. However, co-hosts Megyn Kelly and Bret Baier not only vanquished CNN and MSNBC into oblivion, the dynamic duo also beat their broadcast network competition -- in both total viewers and the all-important 25-54 age demo:
According to Nielsen Media Research, Fox News Channel beat CNN, MSNBC, CBS, NBC and ABC's coverage in both total viewers and in the 25-to-54-year-old demographic.
Co-anchored by Bret Baier and Megyn Kelly, the channel's election coverage averaged 6.3 million viewers during prime time.
CNN was the second most watched news network, with 2.1 million viewers during prime time. MSNBC came in third with about 1.7 million viewers.
Basically, Fox News not only beat CNN and MSNBC combined, Fox almost doubled the combined viewership of its left-wing cable competition.

Only the cable networks were providing continual coverage of the election reports.

Fox was fast moving (going from person to person rapidly) but also very careful about calling the results too soon. They did not take sides, they had both Republicans and Democrats commenting, and they had background information.

Fox Business was also very interesting as they had Neil Cavuto and Lou Dobbs and the business people commenting on the election.

News Max did not have a lot of money to spend on coverage and they quit about midnight.

I don't know which Fox News channel you were watching but they were the first ones to call almost every outcome. They had several 'oops' instances where they said something like "looks like we're, I mean the Republicans, are going to take Georgia..".

Of course Fox beat the networks in the ratings. They only had one hour of coverage. The networks went with their normal Tuesday night prime time TV lineup. As to CNN, they had the most annoying, repetitious background music during their election coverage that I couldn't watch it. There was a point on CNN where one of the panelists said "this isn't looking good for incumbents. The voters are kicking out incumbents", whereupon Newt Gingrich said, "let's be honest, you mean Democratic incumbents. Name me one Republican incumbent that has lost?" And there was silence. It was a great moment.

Bloomberg was boring, MSNBC was uber-biased, Fox Business had too many commercials. I didn't look at PBS. I typically check CSPAN but forgot.

So yeah, Fox News won the election coverage TV ratings. Honestly, aside from their "oops" moments they had the best coverage, with CNN coming in 2nd. I do like how CNN drills down into the voter demographics county-by-county, and they have the best graphics, but man, that music!

I saw it live on Tuesday night, so no, I don't have a link to it. One person who did it was Karl Rove, which I suppose is forgivable given his background as a Republican consultant, but the other one was Brit Hume, who is supposed to be impartial.

Karl Rove is not an employee of Fox News. You need to learn the difference between who is an employee and who is invited on to give commentary.

I doubt that Brit said any such thing. In fact I watched it all night and saw none of this.

Given that you cannot post supposed statement made in full context it is best that you drop your spurious claim lest you become a hypocrite.

Was wondering how Fox handled Megyn Kelly's transition to long hair? Noticed she had hair flowing over shoulder length on Tuesday night. Kind of makes her look like a bimbo, less intelligent. (Ladies, don't rip me, this is what I think it did to Megyn Kelly's look. Women with longer hair don't look like bimbos. I think the longer hair ON HER makes her look less intelligent.)

The last time I saw her she had short hair that barely covered her neck. Was she on leave or vacation for an extended time?

A rather sexist statement and quite petty.

Whatever you say, Rev.

Karl Rove joined Fox News Channel (FNC) as a political contributor in February 2008. He also currently serves as a columnist for the Wall Street Journal.

Since becoming a contributor, Rove has provided analysis for the 2012 Republican Presidential primaries and caucuses. He also contributed to the 2008 Presidential election coverage, making his debut on Super Tuesday.

Prior to FNC, Rove worked on the 2000 Bush presidential campaign as well as Bush's reelection in 2004, leading to his most recent and notable job as Deputy Chief of Staff under President George W. Bush's administration.

In any event, I did say "it was forgivable that he said 'we' when referring to the Republicans".

I know what I saw/heard.

Yeah....it's called an opinion. Newsflash, TV personalities are hired in part, based on their physical appearance. But, whatever you say. I'll let you have the last word. I know how much you love it. Your turn...

You libs with your personal attacks cannot make up your minds. If you all are not accusing me of running away from a thread then you are accusing me of wanting the last word. Maybe you guys ought to get together and get your accusations straight.

By the way your opinion was off topic as well as sexist. It seems you are willing to stoop to the level of sexist attacks in order to slam Fox News at any and all costs. Probably one of the more pathetic posts from you.

And if we are going to demand other people always provide entire statements rather than just providing small quotes then maybe we ought to avoid our snipet quotes based on anecdotes. Otherwise we become hypocritical.

Ah yes, the "L" word. Your favorite go-to when you've got no argument. In another thread I posted I voted the straight Republican ticket this election. That makes me a LIBERAL in your eyes. Ha ha!

I guess that proves we don't walk in lockstep with each other. We don't get together and coordinate our responses. Thanks for pointing that out.

It's not off-topic. Megyn Kelly was one of the anchors of Fox News election coverage. This thread is about Fox News' election coverage.

It's not sexist. I made no comment on Megyn Kelly's skill as a news anchor as it relates to her gender. If you must know, from what little I've seen, I think she is very good. A tough interviewer. I did make a comment on her physical appearance. So what? That's not sexist. You do know what sexist means? Wait, you don't know what ad hominem means, so perhaps not.

You know, you're really not know around here for saying these kinds of things. I'm kinda baffled.

Their hairstyle is not that important - (personally I like long hair on a lady).

My big problem with Fox female reporters are their skirts - or should I say, lack thereof.

Those dresses and skirts are way too short, especially for a conservative.

That's one of the many reasons I don't watch that channel. I am in 100% agreement, and frankly, am kind of scared that more folks aren't offended, or at least, uncomfortable with the amount of skin those FOX News women show.

Pretty much any news outlets does this, though. Not saying it's right, just saying it's an issue across the board. If there is a panel discussion, the news industry has what's called the "leg chair," which is the end chair on a panel. The occupant of the "leg chair" is seen most fully by the camera. The outlet will often put their most physically attractive female anchor or reporter there in an effort to drum up viewership among males. It's a long-practiced business model. (again, not saying it's right...)

What kind of things? That I don't think a person's change in appearance is an improvement? Yeah, I rarely mention physical appearances, but this person is the face of Fox News.

I was watching the election on Fox and I didn't know the woman with the long blonde hair. Honestly. I was wondering what happened to Megyn Fox? When they flashed her name on the screen I was super surprised. My gut reaction was that I liked her appearance with short hair. That's all there was to it.

I don't understand why Rev raked me over the coals. Supposing I would have posted that photo and asked, "Which hairstyle do you like better?" Would that have been OK? Should I have not used the word "bimbo"?

Should I have not used the word "bimbo"?

The last time that I commented on the dress standards of those on Fox, I used the term "booby-woman". The fallout from that was enlightening. Some people do not like others criticizing their Fox News.
